Chapter 513:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Maddox entered the room.
Hearing footsteps, Old Master Shen thought Wendy had returned, so he turned around and said, “Wendy, you…”.
She interrupted herself mid-sentence.
As soon as Old Master Shen saw Maddox, a glimpse of joy appeared on his face.
However, he pulled a long face and asked coldly, “Why did you come?”
“I have come to see you.”
Maddox walked to the end of the bed and looked directly at his grandfather.
“Have you come to see if I am dead?”. At the thought that this brat had not come to see him in several days, Old Master Shen was furious.
It was wrong for him to pretend to be sick, but he did not expect Maddox to be so stubborn and even refuse to come to visit him.
This infuriated and saddened him.

Maddox frowned slightly.
“Grandfather, do you really have to be so insolent?”.
Old Master Shen snorted, “It’s all your fault.”
Old Master Shen must have been very happy that Maddox came to see him, but he pretended to be fierce.
Realizing this, Maddox couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. “Grandpa, since I’ve come to see you, let’s have a good talk, shall we?”.
Old Master Shen glared at him.
“Alright. I’ll listen to you.”
Maddox smiled helplessly.
Why did his grandfather always say something against his own will?
…
After Maddox spoke sincerely with Old Master Shen, Old Master Shen reluctantly agreed to let him decide his own marriage.
“Grandfather, since you have promised me, don’t go back on your word.”
Maddox wanted to obtain Old Master Shen’s assurance again.
Old Master Shen was a little dissatisfied.
“Brat, when did I break my promise?”.
Maddox immediately smiled flatteringly.
“Grandfather, of course you always keep your promises.”
“That sounds better.” Old Master Shen rolled his eyes and continued, “Actually, you have Wendy to thank for that. When we were at loggerheads, it was she who advised me to accept your marriage to Yayoi.”
Hearing this, Maddox raised his eyebrows in surprise.
Could it be that Wendy had meant well?
After all, she had once cheated on him with his grandfather. He found it hard to believe she could be so kind.
Seeing Maddox looking at him with disbelieving eyes, Old Master Shen smacked him upside the head with great force.
Maddox couldn’t help but cry out in pain, “Grandfather, why did you hit me!”.
Old Master Shen looked at him coldly.
“Stop whining, you brat. Wendy and I cheated on you before, but this time she’s really agreed to leave you. Besides, she’s decided to go abroad to continue her studies.”
“Really?”
Maddox was still hesitant. After all, as the old saying went, once bitten, twice shy.
“If you don’t believe me, ask him yourself.”
At this point, Old Master Shen sighed heavily.
“Wendy is such a sensible girl that I feel sorry for her.”
Maddox pursed his lips tightly and frowned thoughtfully.
…
Yayoi yawned and then turned to look at the door that was still closed.
Frowning, she wondered why they had been talking for so long.
Just as she thought this, the door suddenly opened and Maddox stepped out.
Yayoi was startled for a moment, then quickly stood up and watched him walk towards her.
“How’s it going?” she asked anxiously.
Maddox raised his eyebrows.
“Guess.”
Looking at his relaxed expression, she asked tentatively, “Has everything been going well?”
Maddox smiled. “Yes.”
Hearing this answer, Yayoi was finally relieved.
“I’m glad to hear it.”
Then she pointed to the living room and asked, “Should I go in to see Grandpa?”
“No need. When he comes home, you can officially meet.”
Maddox leaned over and pinched her cheek. “Let’s go home now.”
Since the matter had been resolved, he’d been in a very good mood. Now he just wanted to hurry home.
Yayoi had wanted to tell him about Wendy’s decision, but since Maddox was so anxious to go home, she said with a smile, “Okay. Let’s go home.”
…
When Griselda saw Leo and Payton walking back together, she was a little startled, but quickly pulled herself together.
With a friendly expression, she smilingly told them, “Since you’re back, your father must be very happy.”
“Where is my father?” asked Payton.
“He’s upstairs in the study.”
Hearing the answer they wanted, Leo and Payton ignored her, went straight upstairs.
Because their attitude was so indifferent, Griselda’s face immediately fell. With a mischievous look, she watched them go upstairs.
Benson was practicing calligraphy.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, he scolded in a cold voice, “I said no one can come in when I’m practicing.”
However, Leo and Payton didn’t stop until heading straight for the desk, as if they hadn’t heard Benson’s words.
Noticing that something looked strange to him, Benson slowly looked up. Seeing that it was his two sons, he made a surprised face, but then quickly calmed down.
Lowering his head, he continued his practice.
Then he calmly asked, “Why have they both returned?”
Glancing at Leo’s stern face, Payton hesitated a moment before saying, “Dad, we have something to tell you.”
Benson looked at them and said, “Be straight with me.”
“We’ve come today to ask you to let the Eltons go,” Payton stated his intention.
“If you want me to let them go free, then you should ask your brother whether or not he will listen to me.” Benson looked at Leo, who hadn’t said a word since he entered. “However, I believe your brother insists on disobeying me.”
Payton pursed his lips and turned to look at Leo.
He didn’t know what to say.
“If I say that I am willing to obey you, will you let the Eltons go?”
Hearing this, Benson stopped writing. He looked at Leo and asked suspiciously, “Are you willing to listen to me?”
He knew his son’s character better than anyone. Leo had been stubborn since he was a child and would never give in easily.
Was he going to give in today for his own brother’s sake?
Leo, however, showed a sneer and his face grew even colder. “It’s false. I will never listen to you.”
“Leo!”
Although it was within his expectations, Benson flew into a rage.
He slammed the brush down hard on the table. Ink splattered and smeared the words he had just written.
Leo was not at all intimidated by his angry behavior. With a grimace, he said word for word, “I’ve only come to tell you one thing today. Stop thinking of yourself as the center of the world and don’t try to control me and Payton.”
Benson glared at him, his hands trembling with anger.
“Also, as of today, Leo and I will be independent of the Lu Family. We are no longer members of the Lu, and we want nothing from this family. Leave your properties to your other two sons.”
After saying this, he cast a cold glance at Benson and turned around to leave without hesitation.
“Leo! If you walk out the door today, I will break our father-son relationship!” Benson shouted angrily.
Leo paused and turned around. “I can’t wait.”
And he walked away without looking at his father.
Still, the worst happened.
Looking at Benson, who was trembling with rage, Payton sighed helplessly. He wanted to say something, but thought better of it.
He bowed to Benson and then also turned to leave.
