Chapter 511:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Rosie’s face turned pale with anger. “What is she blabbering about?”
Carol frowned. “Belinda has crossed the line! She, a divorced woman, has no right to criticize our family!”
“Why are you getting so worked up?”
Anthony, glaring at the two women beside him, said coldly, “Isn’t what Belinda said true? When Kristopher was in a coma and the Cox Group was struggling, she married into our family and nursed Kristopher back to health for over half a year. Even if there was no love between her and Kristopher, she saved his life, didn’t she? But how has Kristopher treated her all these years, and how have you all treated her?”
As Anthony spoke, he couldn’t resist sneering at Rosie. “Don’t tell me you consider yourself a good mother-in-law?”
Rosie’s face soured further under his criticism.
Her fists clenched involuntarily, but she remained silent.
Seeing this, Carol intervened to reason with Anthony. “Anthony, it’s not like that. Belinda has also benefited from our Cox family over the past three years, hasn’t she? Even if she did her part in looking after Kristopher, we should have settled it by now. We can’t expect Kristopher to spend his whole life repaying her, can we?”
“What’s the problem with that?”
Anthony snorted. “If Cathy can demand so much from Kristopher based on her past kindness, why can’t Belinda?”
At the venue, whispers began circulating after a short silence.
“Can you believe what Belinda just said? She’s not scared of the Cox family’s comeback?”
“If she was, she wouldn’t have hit Maggie with that wine bottle.”

“The Cox family is top dog in Nawrin. How can she speak so dismissively of them like that?”
“Maybe they did her wrong, so she flipped at the engagement party. Even after Maggie was hit, she didn’t fight back.”
Though quiet, those conversations struck Maggie hard. Each word was like a heavy hammer blow, brutally striking her heart.
Being a Cox lady, she had grown up accustomed to admiration. She had never faced such humiliation!
She bit her lip, glaring at Belinda.
It seemed like Belinda was cooling down and preparing to leave with Madisyn and Joyce.
Maggie’s anger surged!
She glared at Belinda, her eyes filled with fury, and clenched her fists.
Cathy, by Maggie’s side, noticed every move and expression.
She gave a small smile, eavesdropping on the nearby chatter while walking up and gently touching Maggie’s clenched fist. “Maggie, let it slide. Don’t argue with Miss Nelson. You know Anthony spoils her rotten. Heck, he even wanted Belinda to inherit his things. In Anthony’s book, Belinda, the ex-granddaughter-in-law, might trump you, his own granddaughter… Don’t stir the pot. Anthony’s around tonight. If he catches you tangling with Belinda again, he might think you’re acting out…”
Cathy watched Maggie closely as she spoke.
Seeing Maggie’s anger rise, a flicker of satisfaction crossed Cathy’s face. “Maggie,” she continued in a soft tone, stoking the fire. “Take it easy…”
