Chapter 603:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
She paused, her voice firm. “And keep Kristopher out of this. I’ve severed all ties with him. As for my funeral, I don’t want him there, nor any of the Cox family, not even Anthony.”
Madisyn bit her lip, her nod swift and resolute. “I’ll respect your wishes,” she promised. “And…”
Belinda glanced at the cat curled up in the backpack Fred was holding and said softly, “Fluffy has been with me for over two years, and it’s the one I worry about the most. Madisyn can be a bit neglectful, and Darren’s always so busy…” She raised her eyes to Fred, her voice frail. “Could I ask you to take care of Fluffy? Cats don’t live very long, only about a dozen years. Please?”
Fred, tall and robust, bowed his head to conceal his tears. His voice broke as he assured her, “Belinda, don’t worry. I promise to look after Fluffy well.”
Belinda sighed and turned her attention to Darren. “Darren, about that matter I asked you to handle…”
“Don’t worry about it,” Darren replied, pressing his lips tightly together. “I’ll make sure it’s done.”
Just then, a knock sounded at the door, followed by Susie’s breathless voice. “Darren, I’ve got it here!”
Startled, Darren quickly walked over to open the door, taking the items from Susie and solemnly showing them to Belinda. “Look, Belinda! Here it is! The first prototype of your design from the workshop. We’ve brought your vision to life!”
With tears in her eyes, Belinda looked at her creation, gingerly reaching out to touch it as Darren carefully handed her the piece of jewelry.
Belinda’s fingers struggled to move.
Yet, she believed the piece she had crafted was breathtakingly beautiful. Tears cascaded down her cheeks as she continuously expressed her gratitude to Darren.

Aware that her time was fleeting, she lifted her gaze to Madisyn. “Joyce has just woken up. Please, keep the news of my departure from her for now… I fear the shock might be too much for her, and she could act recklessly…”
Madisyn nodded repeatedly, assuring her, “I won’t tell her, Belinda.”
Cradling the jewelry she had created in one hand and hugging Fluffy, the pet Fred had brought her, with the other, Belinda spoke softly. “I leave with two regrets… One, not seeing Joyce before I go. The other is…” Her voice trailed off as she shut her eyes.
She reflected on her unrequited love for a man who had never cared for her, a smile tinged with sadness crossing her lips.
“Beep!”
A piercing alarm sounded from the resuscitation room’s instruments, and the heart rate monitor beside Belinda flatlined.
“Belinda!”
“Belinda!”
The sky grew dark, as if it were collapsing.
Thunder boomed, and rain fell heavily.
It felt as though the sky itself was grieving the loss of this young lady.
The doctors hurried into the ER, while Madisyn, Darren, and Fred stepped back with Fluffy.
The lights in the ER blinked back to life.
