After Elva showered her son with kisses, Joann cradled Samuel and spoke softly to him. “Lately, Cassius has not been in the best of health. He’s been anxiously awaiting your return with Luis. I proposed to call you both, but he refused. He didn’t want to disturb them. Cassius said he didn’t want to be a burden; he just hoped you two would reconcile.”
