Chapter 2263:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Luis’ familiar voice came through the phone as he softly asked, “Are you still at my parents’ house?”
Elva chuckled. “Your timing is impeccable.”
She continued, “Grandpa is not well. I’ve been considering staying here for a while. Luis, despite your promise to return soon, if you have some free time in the next few days, consider coming back to visit. ”
She filled him in on Cassius’ condition.
There was a prolonged silence from the other end….
Finally, Luis replied softly, “I understand, I’ll make the arrangements. You’ve been handling things admirably lately.”
He understood that while there were no strict rules in the Mendez family, living there with the elders was still not as free and comfortable as having his own place. Life wasn’t as convenient, but Elva was willing to stay there. This time, he wouldn’t ask her about the one-year term, because he could feel Elva’s sincerity. She really considered herself his wife.
Luis didn’t say much, he simply advised her to get some rest.
Elva nodded, hung up the call and examined the bedroom. This was Luis’ space.
He had spent a few nights there over the past few months and the decor had gradually taken on a more feminine and cozy feel. It was also decorated with Samuel’s belongings….
It seemed that his space had lost some of its romantic touch.
Nevertheless, Elva found it comforting and safe.
Then she fell into a deep sleep.
When she awoke at dawn, she heard noises outside, followed by footsteps. When she opened her eyes, she saw Luis.
Elva blinked in surprise.
Had he run back during the night?
Luis was standing by the bed, while Elva watched him silently.
It had been more than a month since they had last seen each other.
He seemed different than usual, lacking his typical arrogant demeanor. He looked thinner and more fatigued, but there was a new sense of masculinity about him. As she looked at him, he reached out to tenderly touch her cheek. Although he did not speak, there were traces of affection in his eyes.
After a long silence, he finally spoke. “I couldn’t find peace, so I came back to see you and Grandpa.”
