Chapter 447:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The words hit me harder than I expected. I looked at Nero again. He was already asleep. “You’re sure he’ll be okay?”
Bram smiled faintly. “He’s stubborn enough to survive anything.”
I hesitated before finally nodding. “Fine. One hour.”
“Good.”
I leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to Nero’s forehead. “I’ll be back soon.”
His eyes didn’t open, but his fingers moved slightly against the blanket, as if he had heard me. I smiled. Then I followed Bram out.
The morning air was cool against my face. Bram walked ahead of me.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“You’ll see. The surprise I told you about.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Bram.”
He laughed. “Keep walking.”
After several minutes, the path began to look familiar, and I slowed. “Wait.”
He didn’t stop. I looked around, and my heart jumped. “Bram…”
He finally stopped and turned to me. “You recognize it?”
I stared down the road and took a step. Then another. And then I saw the cabin.
Nero’s father’s cabin.
I stopped completely. The cabin that had once been broken was now whole and beautiful.
Remi POV
The roof had been repaired. The walls were solid. The windows had been replaced, and the old holes in the wooden floor were gone. A proper door hung from its frame, and the smoke stains had been scrubbed from the chimney.
I stared. I couldn’t speak.
Bram stepped beside me. “Surprise.”
I turned slowly toward him. “How?”
He shrugged. “You’ve been busy.”
“But you couldn’t have done all this.”
He smiled. “I had help.”
I touched the wooden wall. It was real. “You fixed it. While I was preparing for the ceremony?”
My eyes filled with tears. “Why?”
Bram looked away for a moment. “Because you deserved to have somewhere to come back to.”
I couldn’t stop myself. I rushed forward and wrapped my arms around him. “Bram.”
He froze for a second, then laughed softly and hugged me back. “You like it?”
“It’s perfect.” I pulled away and wiped my eyes. “You’re impossible.”
I looked at the cabin again. It felt like home. Then I realized there was only one person missing. “Wait until Nero sees this.”
Bram’s smile faded slightly. “Yeah.”
I looked at him. “What?”
He glanced toward the trees and rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s just… now that Nero is back, I suppose I won’t be seeing you much anymore.”
My smile faded. “Don’t say that. It doesn’t have to be that way.”
Bram gave me a small smile. “You have your mate now. And I fixed your house.”
I laughed softly. “You make it sound like you’ve completed your mission.”
“Maybe I have.”
I shook my head. “You haven’t.” He raised an eyebrow. “I’ll always need you.”
Something flickered across his face. Then I surprised myself by saying, “Come to Moonstone with us.”
His expression changed immediately. “No. Gemma needs me.”
“You could bring her.”
He laughed. “You know Gemma would never leave the Free Lands.”
“Then visit.”
“Remi.”
I stepped closer. “Sometimes you have to choose yourself too.”
