Chapter 452:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Jason’s methods have always been excellent, but after seeing him today, I do think he’s a little different from the man I’ve heard about.”
“Really?” Levi gave her a sidelong glance, “How is he different?”
Ruby raised her eyebrows slightly and, out of the corner of her eye, glanced toward the fence in the distance with a relaxed air.
“He’s rumored to be a determined person, but I’ve noticed that’s not the case at all.”
“Are you thinking he’s not what he seems?”.
“That’s right, when I saw him today, there was still a pretty big gulf between him and the image that has gone wild out there. When he greeted us today, he didn’t act like a lifelong absolute top dog, quite the contrary, he seemed to me more like a sidekick working for the top dog.”
Levi’s eyes flickered slightly, the corners of his lips curved slightly into a curve and he smiled.
“I feel that way too.”
Ruby shook her head, “But we can’t really expose him, I’m here for treatment.”
She then said, “This place is heavily guarded and it seems that all the research material inside this institute is not to be underestimated.”
Levi replied, “Yes, I have asked Chester to do research in advance, this research institute can often develop some pharmaceuticals that are not seen in the market, and even have some special functions, that’s why I brought you here.”
Ruby felt that she should act confused at that moment, so she simply stopped and tilted her head to look at him in confusion.
“Do I really have a serious illness?”
Levi stopped as well and turned sideways, his eyebrows lowered, his dark pupils reflecting her slender, slim figure.

After a few moments, he reached up to rub her hair and smiled, “Don’t worry, it’s not very serious, you’ve only lost part of your memories. I brought you here in the hope of restoring them through therapy.”
At these words, Ruby pondered for a moment and continued to ask, “Why do I have to make up these memories? Does it affect my life much not having these lost memories?”
Levi seemed absorbed in the question and did not answer for a long moment.
As he met Ruby’s wide eyes, his thin lips pursed, his voice tensed slightly, and after a few moments he suddenly sighed.
“If I had to speak from a selfish point of view, I wouldn’t mind having your memory restored, as long as I was by your side.”
His ability to bring the dead back to life and his unparalleled mind in the world of medical research were coveted by others.
That was why he had fallen prey to some and had always been unable to lead a quiet life.
However, he knew that, given her character, she would not be willing to live in that state of limbo.
Furthermore, he knew that she hoped to make some contribution to the medical community through her hard work in research.
Therefore, he could not be so selfish and always think of himself.
In everything he did, he had to put her at the center.
Although these words were unspoken, Ruby heard the meaning of his words as if he had telepathy.
Her heart filled with warmth as she realized that this man was not only her husband, but also her confidant.
He was the only one who really knew her.
He was also the only one who supported her unconditionally and protected her.
Five years ago, a misadventure brought them together briefly and, for the next five years, they were never able to get closer due to a twist of fate.
But after all, the heavens still cared for her and loved her, so he sent him back to her, so they could meet again, get closer.
She couldn’t help but get excited, suddenly, she wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her face to his chest.
Levi was stunned by her action, and it took him a dozen seconds to react; he hurriedly reached up to wrap his hand around her in his arms, asked in a warm voice, “What’s wrong, did something occur to you?”
Ruby shook her head in his arms, her voice muffled, “No, I just want to hold you.”
She had rarely been like this, she had only been like this twice since her memory problems.
Levi was so impressed that his heart softened instantly, the corners of his mouth curved into a soft arch and the corners of his eyes along his eyebrows tinged with pleasure.
“I would be even more reluctant to have your memory returned to you, if you recover at all, I suppose I won’t be able to see how you are now.”
Ruby felt embarrassed by his words, her cheeks flushed slightly and she cooed before pulling back from his arms and blurting out, “Don’t be ridiculous.”
Levi nodded his head and intertwined his fingers with her, “Okay, let’s go back. The wind is getting cold at night, it’s easy to catch a cold.”
Ruby didn’t refuse and the two were soon back in their top floor suite.
…
The next day, John led the two men downstairs and headed straight to the first floor.
The examination rooms and larger labs of the Institute were located in the back half of the first floor, it was no surprise to see Jason as Ruby was led to the door of the examination room.
“Mr. Finn, Miss Finn, did you sleep well last night?”. Seeing the two, he asked politely.
Ruby nodded, “Yes, but it’s a little hard to recover from the trip.”
Jason smiled, “It can’t be helped, but you’ll get used to it in a couple of days.”
He stepped aside to show the person standing behind him and introduced, “This is Doctor Will, our lead researcher at the Institute. He and his team will be examining your entire body. We hope to find out what’s wrong with you so we can find a way out.”
Hearing this, Ruby and Levi fixed their eyes on the doctor named Will.
They discovered that he was a middle-aged man in his fifties.
Just as the two of them were fixated on Doctor Will, he was also fixated on Ruby.
He was the creator of the potions injected into Ruby. Now that he saw Ruby’s condition, he frowned slightly.
However, for the moment he said nothing, pointed to the examination room and said casually, “Miss Finn, please come in and wait.”
Having said this, he turned and went into the next room to change his clothes.
Soon the full body examination began.
Ruby lay down in the examination room, while Levi waited sitting on a bench in the hallway in front of the door to the room, his face expressionless.
