Chapter 532:.
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
All the policemen turned around and looked at me. I recognized the cop who gave me Derek’s belongings. He approached me and reminded me to leave as soon as possible.
I was stubborn and told him firmly, “Please let me do it. The criminals are very smart and will spot the police as soon as I go there. Luther has seen me before and knows that I am an ordinary woman. Besides, I have already studied nursing, so it is quite appropriate for me to go there.”
The police disagreed with me, but I vehemently insisted.
“Sir, if we delay any longer, I’m afraid the criminals will lose patience. By then, the hostages will be in real danger.” Whatever I said, the police refused to budge.
A woman’s voice suddenly came from the side. “I’ll go with her.”
I turned in the direction the voice came from and saw that it was Ady.
Ady gave me a cursory glance and then said to the police, “There is no better way to proceed from this point. I will go with her. I’ll bring some food and she’ll dress Luther’s wound.”
We quickly prepared the food and grabbed the first aid kit. Ady carried the former, and I carried the latter. We hiked up the mountain together. As we walked, one of the policemen kept shouting over the loudspeaker, “Please calm down. Don’t hurt the hostages. We have sent people to bring you what you need. I hope you can keep your sanity and composure, and not make mistakes repeatedly.”
I walked up the mountain, step by step, with the first aid kit in my hand. I was well aware that there was undoubtedly a gun pointed directly at me. If I took any action, it would go off and connect directly with my head. Every step I took brought me a little closer to the gates of hell. But now I felt totally safe. There was not a trace of fear in me.
Even death was not a horrifying thing and I welcomed it. If I died, Derek would be waiting for me.
“Stop!” When we were halfway up the mountain, we suddenly heard a voice shouting something in our direction.
Ady and I froze and looked into the bushes to determine where the voice was coming from.
“Put your hands up and walk slowly,” the man ordered. Ady and I followed his orders. As we approached the bushes, two men suddenly appeared. They pointed their guns at us and frisked us.
After thoroughly checking the first aid kit I was carrying, as well as the backpack in which Ady was carrying the food, they continued to force us to walk up the mountain.
We were now completely out of sight of the policemen at the foot of the mountain. When I reached the top of the mountain, I saw Luther lying in the grass. His shirt was stained with blood on his chest. It was obvious that he was seriously wounded. The other two hostages were a woman and a child.

When they saw us, they screamed even more desperately. I quickly scanned the surrounding terrain. This barren area of land was not too large, and the back of it was the edge of a steep cliff. So there was no route back that Luther and his men could attempt to use.
Although Luther was wounded, he was still conscious. He was dumbfounded when he saw Ady and me.
“You…”
I said softly, “Mr. Scott, we did exactly as you asked. I hope it won’t hurt you since we did it.”
“Your intention is to avenge Derek?” Luther asked, looking me up and down with his sharp eagle eyes.
My heart skipped a beat, but I didn’t let the expression on my face betray me.
“Don’t mention his name. I have nothing to do with that kind of man, who had abandoned me before.”
Luther watched me as if he was busy dissecting and analyzing the veracity of my words.
“Then why are you here? The police wouldn’t let an ordinary person take a chance.” Indeed, Luther was not easy to deal with.
I looked at the crying child and said, “Because I feel sorry for the child you are holding hostage. I am a woman and I also have children.” After saying that, I smiled weakly. “Mr. Scott, I am only a weak woman. I came here at your request. Since you don’t need treatment, I will leave.”
Then, I turned around decisively as if I was ready to leave.
