Chapter 189:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Emily’s POV
“She’s just manipulating you!”
“You’re choosing that whore over me? I’m your twin brother!”
“She’s not for you, Matt! There are other women in the world. Why would you settle for someone like her?”
“I shouldn’t have dragged you to this country!”

Those were the painful words Mason left me with yesterday, and even now, I can still hear them echoing in my head. I tried to ignore it, but I just can’t.
“You chose to lose your younger brother. Don’t ever call me again.”
I squeezed my eyes closed. I love Matt, and the last thing I want for him is to lose the people he loves, just like I did. I’m not like my father. I won’t insist on things that aren’t meant for me. And if… if Matt’s going to lose his twin brother because of me, I’d rather he leave me, even if it hurts, and even if I end up miserable again.
He was the only one who saw me as a human being. He treasured me even when I told him about my past. He made me feel loved. He valued my feelings. I love him.
“Miss.”
I blinked twice and sucked in my breath when the cashier called my attention. I apologized and grabbed my shoulder bag to pay for the groceries. I had bought some things for Matt and me, but my mind was somewhere else entirely.
My forehead creased as I rummaged through my bag and realized I couldn’t find my wallet. What…
My lips parted as I realized I had forgotten it on my vanity, and I had purposely left my phone behind so I couldn’t pay via bank transfer.
I sucked in a breath and glanced at the people in line. They were looking at me with annoyed and impatient expressions. I wanted to roll my eyes, but I knew I was at fault.
I looked at the cashier. “Uh… I left my wallet.”
“But, ma’am, you have to pay for your groceries.”
I bit my bottom lip and was about to speak again when someone dropped a black card on the counter. A tall man, standing behind me, spoke. “Charge it here.”
The cashier swallowed hard as she slowly picked up the black card. Her cheeks flushed, and I finally understood why when I looked at the man behind me.
Sharp eyes, thick eyebrows, a proud, pointed nose, and reddish lips. Everyone would have a crush on him… if he didn’t show his jerk side.
I clenched my jaw and carried the bag of groceries as I started walking away without thanking him. I went straight to the escalator, feeling him stalking me from behind.
“I’m going to ask Matt about your bank account and wire the money later,” I said without glancing at him.
“I don’t need you to pay for it. I’ll even give you money if you promise to leave my brother alone.”
I turned to face him angrily. “Why do you keep pushing me away from your brother, Mason?”
He clenched his jaw. “Can’t you see? You’re making him turn his back on his family—”
“I didn’t tell him to do that! It’s his own decision.”
“Because you made him believe in lies!”
I gritted my teeth and turned my back again. I couldn’t believe I had to argue with him about this. He was so blind. He couldn’t even listen to his own brother.
I reached the parking lot and placed my groceries in the back seat. I opened the door to the driver’s seat, but Mason slammed it shut and pushed me against the car. I remembered this scene. It had happened before. He’d insulted me to the bone, and I’d ended up crying my heart out and breaking up with Matt.
He tilted his head and stared at my face. “I don’t know what my brother saw in you, and I’ve been trying to open my eyes to see it, but I can’t.”
I clenched my jaw. “You can’t see it because you’re different from your brother. You’re an asshole, while he’s not.”
He laughed sarcastically and leaned closer. I was shocked by what he did next. I put my hand on his chest with the intention of pushing him away, but he held both of my hands and pressed them between us.
“Tell me… Do you need another fking body? I can do it. I can fk you and satisfy you more than my brother can. Just leave him—”
Argh!
I snapped, my vision blurring with rage, and I bumped him with my forehead. When I looked at him, his lips were bleeding, and he was glaring at me in fury.
I was about to get into my car when he grabbed my wrist, took the key from me, and opened the door himself. He pushed me inside but climbed in after me. I had no choice but to move to the passenger seat. I was about to open the door, but he locked it.
He glared at me. “I’m going to f**king torture you until you give in and leave my brother on your own.”
My eyes widened as he started driving in the opposite direction of my condominium tower.
“MASON!” I screamed, but he ignored me, like he was deaf.
“Where are you taking me?” I growled at him. “Where are you taking me?”
He glanced at me and smirked. “To hell.”
“What?”
I balled my fists and grabbed the steering wheel from him. He pushed me to the passenger seat, but I didn’t give up. I tried to push him back and maneuver the car, but he wouldn’t let me. We continued fighting over the steering wheel until I heard a loud horn and saw another car coming toward us.
I panicked and froze, but Mason managed to maneuver the car, and we ended up crashing into a huge tree by the roadside.
I felt my vision blur and spin as my body went numb. I heard someone calling my name, but I slowly lost consciousness. Before the darkness fully consumed me, I felt someone carrying me out of the car.
Whether it was Mason or someone who had rescued me, I couldn’t tell anymore. All I could think about was my end. Maybe this was where I should stop fighting for this worthless life.
Kelly’s POV
I jumped in shock, my heart racing, as the glass of water slipped from my hand.
“A car accident!”
“Kelly!”
Pierce rushed into the kitchen where I stood, with his assistant following behind him, holding the documents Pierce needed to sign.
“Don’t move, I’ll clean it,” Pierce said as I stood frozen, a cold sense of unease sweeping over me. I felt like something had happened.
“P-Pierce…”
He immediately dropped the dustpan and broom and rushed to me. He picked me up and carried me out of the kitchen, setting me down on the couch in the living room. He checked my body for any injuries.
“Were you hurt? Where?”
I clung to his shoulders. “Pierce, let’s call Mom or Dad. I want to make sure they’re safe.”
He stared at me and nodded before pulling out his phone and dialing his mother’s number. I felt relieved once I confirmed they were safe, but my fear and worry only grew when I saw the news online about an accident involving Emily and… Mason?
