Chapter 199:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Kelly’s POV
The bomb threat at the company created chaos. After my three-week break, I decided to return to work. I took on the responsibility of managing my father’s company and completely stepped down from my mom’s company, handing over the authority to Sara. Matt is now working at a hospital, while Mason is helping Sara manage the company. He’s also overseeing the sunflower plantation and the hacienda that our family left to us. It’s not that I want no connection with them. It’s just that I feel they deserve the wealth of the Foster family more than I do. Besides, I already have my dad’s company and assets, and I’m content with what I have.
I bought an iced coffee from the shop across the street from my company. My other hand was tucked in my pants pocket as I walked. I was wearing a maternity floral dress, and the lace of my company ID hung around my neck. My phone beeped, and I smiled when I saw Pierce’s name on the screen. He sent me a message, and I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw the photo he attached. It was a picture of him, pouting while sitting on his swivel chair. He looked sad, but I knew he was just acting.
From Pierce, my handsome hubby: “I’m sad. I told you I want to take a day off and spend it with you.”
I shook my head and took a photo of myself. I sent it back to him before continuing on my way. I was about to cross the road when someone suddenly grabbed my arm. I was startled, and my coffee spilled on my dress. Thankfully, it wasn’t the usual hot coffee I always buy.
My eyes widened as I recognized the woman in front of me. She had lost weight, dark circles under her eyes, and she was glaring at me.
“Lexi…”
She smirked evilly. “You still remember me?”
I raised an eyebrow, staring at her blankly. “How could I forget the woman who stalked my husband like a mad dog?”
Her evil smile slowly faded, and her eyes burned with anger. I noticed a truck approaching, and I realized what she intended to do. I tried to run, but she grabbed my hair and yanked me back. I screamed for help as she tried to push me into the street. No! No! I’m pregnant!
My mind went blank. All I could think about was saving myself to protect the baby inside me. Lexi used all her strength to push me, but since she was looking weak, I managed to pull away from her grip. She screamed as she lost her balance and was the one who was pushed into the road.

My eyes widened in horror as the truck hit her, and she rolled across the road. I gasped, staring at her body lying motionless. The people who had been watching us earlier began crowding around Lexi. My throat went dry as I ran toward her. I cupped my mouth when I saw blood staining the road.
I kneeled beside her. She was unconscious, and it looked like she was fighting for her life.
“Call an ambulance, please,” I instructed the people around me before turning back to Lexi. “Lexi…” I cupped her cheek gently. “Lexi…”
“I saw her trying to push the pregnant woman. It’s her fault.”
“Call an ambulance!” I repeated, urgently.
“Is she dead?”
People murmured around us, but I ignored them, focusing solely on Lexi. I tried to stop the bleeding from the side of her head by pressing my handkerchief to the wound. The ambulance arrived shortly after, and she was immediately given first aid before being rushed to the vehicle. The police approached me next, asking what had happened as they handed me a towel. I told them the truth, and with witnesses around, it was determined that it was an accident.
I sighed as I stared at the blood staining the road. A car abruptly pulled up in front of me. Pierce stepped out and rushed over to me. He immediately pulled me into his arms, his voice full of concern. “Were you hurt?”
I shook my head and looked up at him. “Pierce, it’s Lexi…”
He clenched his jaw, his worry evident, and hugged me tighter. “I’m just glad that you’re okay.”
I took a deep breath and licked my bottom lip. “She tried to push me.”
I heard Pierce curse softly under his breath and gently brushed my hair back with his fingers. I closed my eyes, swallowing hard. Pierce pulled away from the hug and took off his coat. He draped it over my shoulders to cover me, since my chest was wet from the iced coffee. He handed the towel back to the police and then lifted me into his arms, carrying me bridal style to his car.
“Where are we going?” I asked, curious.
“We need to get you checked. You said she tried to push you, and your body was forced.”
Though I didn’t feel any discomfort, I nodded in agreement. He got into the driver’s seat and started the car. I stayed silent during the entire drive until we reached the hospital. Pierce immediately searched for my gynecologist after bringing me to the emergency room.
I was still in shock over what had happened. I never expected Lexi to show up and try to harm me or my baby. She wasn’t pregnant, after all. She had lied about carrying Pierce’s child.
“Kelly!” Matt entered the emergency room wearing a white lab coat. I smiled when I saw him. “Are you okay? What did your OB-GYN say?”
“I’m fine,” I answered softly. “My doctor said the baby is safe.”
He closed his eyes in relief, clenching his jaw before looking at me again. He gently caressed my hand and glanced at Pierce, who stood beside me, before sighing.
“You should be more careful. Why did you even go out? You could’ve had your secretary or your guard buy you a coffee.”
I smiled at him. “I wanted to buy it myself. Besides, I’m fine.”
He groaned and shook his head. “You’re really stubborn. Just like Emily and Mason.”
I smirked at him before I held Pierce’s hand, letting out a deep sigh as I stared at Matt.
“How’s Lexi? She was brought to this hospital, right?”
He nodded. “She’s undergoing surgery since her injuries are severe.”
I pressed my lips together. Pierce squeezed my hand, giving me a reassuring smile. “Hey, it’s not your fault.”
I looked at him. “I know. I just… I can’t believe this happened.”
Matt held my other hand, giving it a gentle squeeze, which caught my attention. “I’ll make sure she survives, so you don’t have to feel guilty.”
“Thank you, Matt,” I said softly.
He nodded and kissed my forehead before he left, leaving me alone with Pierce. My husband stood in front of me, cupping my face and tilting it slightly so our gazes met.
That day had been a disaster, but I survived it. True to Matt’s words, he ensured Lexi would make it through. I later heard from him that after the surgery, she was sent to the ICU, and after a week, she’d be moved to a private room to recover.
Pierce also filed a case against her. I didn’t know he would do that. But Matt told me that after Lexi was transferred to the private room, she was handcuffed, and two police officers were stationed outside her room.
Pierce had been wanting to put Lexi behind bars for what she did to him—and to me. His anger toward her had intensified after she tried to kill me, and now, he had lost his patience with her.
One sunny morning, Pierce came to my company and surprised me with chocolate ice cream. I was so happy, and my joy grew even more when he showed me a small card. My heart raced in my chest as if it would leap out. “A wedding invitation?” I gasped, slowly looking up at him.
He smiled and rested his hands on the armrest of the couch where I was sitting. He leaned in and kissed me passionately before nodding.
“I told you I’m marrying you again, after everything.”
I smiled, feeling my heart flutter in my chest. He was looking at me with so much affection, and I knew I was looking at him the same way.
“Thank you…” I whispered, lifting myself slightly to reach for his lips.
I felt him smile against my lips. Our kiss deepened, but the door suddenly swung open, and I saw Yara freeze. She quickly turned and left the office, leaving us alone again.
I made Pierce chuckle, which made my cheeks flush. God! I had forgotten to remind Yara not to enter my office today.
A third wedding? Why not? I’d love to marry him for the third time in this lifetime.
“This is what we prepared before,” Pierce added, smiling again.
I nodded and smirked at him. “I’m so excited, Pierce. I can’t wait to marry you again.”
He wrapped his arms around my waist, and I buried my face in his chest. I could feel the contentment in my heart. I felt happy, knowing that with him and the people I love around me, I wouldn’t ask for anything more. This is the life I’ve always wanted, and I will never trade it for wealth. Because this—this is my true riches. They are my greatest treasure.
