Chapter 549:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
All heads snapped toward the voice.
The man who had spoken strolled forward with eerie confidence, his face hidden behind a grotesque demon mask—its jagged fangs dripping with what looked like fresh blood. The sight alone could send a child screaming into the night.
He radiated danger. Even without the weapon slung casually in one hand—a sleek, deadly submachine gun—his aura screamed violence, like a storm caged in human form.
Dayna said nothing, but her gaze was sharp, absorbing every detail.
Though the mask concealed most of his face, it couldn’t hide the anomaly in his eyes. One was pitch black, void-like. The other shimmered with an icy trace of blue.
Heterochromatic. Two different eyes. One soul split in half.

A subtle shift passed through the air, a collective easing of breath. With his arrival, the tension thinned.
No one from Dayna’s side knew who he was. But they all sensed it: he stood leagues above the tattooed man.
The tattooed thug wasted no time. With a grin so forced it nearly split his cheeks, he signaled his men to lower their weapons and stepped forward like a lackey greeting a king. “Sir! What brings you here today?”
Lucas nearly gagged. The man’s fawning tone was sickening.
If the guy had a tail, it would’ve been wagging like a mutt begging for scraps. In gangster organizations like this, the hierarchy was gospel—rigid, merciless, pyramid-structured. You either obeyed or vanished.
The masked man didn’t bother to speak. He simply glared, and then drove a boot into the tattooed man’s chest with explosive force. The impact sent him sprawling, coughing blood as he hit the ground with a sickening thud.
No one had seen it coming. Guns that had just been lowered now snapped upward once more—but this time, they weren’t aimed at Dayna and her group. They were turned on him.
Surrounded and outnumbered, the masked man stood perfectly still. Not an ounce of fear touched him. His eyes glinted with contempt, his voice low and cutting.
“You point your guns at me?” he asked coldly. “Is it suicide you’re after?”
Lucas leaned closer to Dayna, his voice barely a whisper. “I heard these guys operate on a strict ranking system—like A, B, C grades. Point a weapon at someone above you, and it’s instant execution.”
Dayna’s eyes flicked to him, widening. “Then what if someone higher up abuses their power? Can’t the lower ranks defend themselves?”
Lucas gave a helpless shrug. “In this world, lower ranks have no say. Only orders to follow.”
