Chapter 357:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
My boss waved his hand, signaling for me to say no more.
“Then I’ll head back now.”
I slowly got up and left my boss’s office. After returning to the Finance Department, I couldn’t help but notice that I was being treated differently from that day onward. The boss and his wife often invited me to dinner. They sent me fruits, local delicacies, and various gifts. I no longer had to handle the tedious work at the travel agency. All I had to do was manage the accounts every day, a task that was much lighter compared to before. But the longer I worked there, the more I began to feel a sense of emptiness. I didn’t feel as good as before.
Bella’s POV:
Due to the boss’s special treatment, my colleagues began to isolate me. They kept saying that I was favored by the boss, which made me feel very uncomfortable. After struggling with it for a few days, I decided to resign. When I placed the resignation letter on the boss’s desk, he became visibly nervous. He quickly stood up and asked, “Oh, dear Bella, what’s going on? Your salary is high enough, isn’t it? Emilia works every day, and her salary is lower than yours.”
I explained, “Boss, it’s not about the salary. It’s a personal matter.”
“What’s the reason? We can’t manage without you. Since your friend helped us, the people at the tourism bureau have been treating us better. Do you know how envious other travel agencies are? What will I do if you leave?”
My boss begged me not to leave. I felt a little frustrated, but he had been kind to me, so I chose to remain patient. I said, “Boss, I really need to resign. I’m sorry, but please find someone else. I must leave next week.”
After a moment of silence, my boss said, “If you insist on leaving, I can’t stop you. But could you talk to your friend and have him declare that we are his relatives?”

My boss’s request made me frown. He wanted to use Klein’s fame to boost the company’s reputation, but considering my current relationship with Klein, I wasn’t sure if that was appropriate.
“Bella, we’ve worked so well together for the past two months. My wife and I have always been kind to you. Please help us out, please!”
My boss kept pleading.
“I’ll think about it,” I replied. I didn’t agree, but I didn’t refuse either.
“Okay, okay,” my boss said. After leaving his office, I couldn’t help but frown. Looking down at the brand-new phone in my hand, I felt uncertain. A few days ago, I had received an unexpected package. Inside was a watch and a fashionable new mobile phone. The sender’s address was not listed. When I tried to return it, the courier said there was no record and refused to accept the return. I had been worrying about it for two days. I suspected Klein might have sent it. He was the only one who knew my phone and watch were damaged during the fight. I wanted to ask him about it, but his number was deleted from my phone, and I couldn’t contact him. I could ask Amy for Klein’s number, but I didn’t want to. Amy would certainly misunderstand the relationship between Klein and me. The watch in the package cost over $3,000. If I ever saw Klein again in the future, I’d return it to him.
As for my boss’s request, I had given it some thought. My boss and his wife had been very kind to me. I could help them in other ways, but I couldn’t manipulate Klein’s feelings for me just to gain something in return.
A week later, I successfully resigned from the travel agency and began looking for a new job. This time, with my CPA certificate, I was confident that I could find a better opportunity.
