Madisyn affirmed with a nod and was about to suggest they wait, but she caught Ailyn attempting to open the door.

Ailyn laughed off Madisyn’s warning, clearly unconvinced. She assumed Madisyn was merely playing a game of delay, employing a tactic Ailyn herself was known for, which made her think Madisyn was foolish to use that on her.

Ailyn pushed against the door forcefully, while Madisyn clung firmly to the doorknob, not yielding.

The elders with Ailyn gave Madisyn disapproving looks. They wondered why she was obstructing their entry if Dr. Mia was indeed inside.

“Miss Johns, we should not keep Mr. Klein and Dr. Mia waiting. Please, let us through.”
