Chapter 1042:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Ailyn stepped out of the way without hesitation, leaving those behind her almost tearful.
“Ailyn, are you really going to let your father die by not seeking Dr. Mia’s help?”
Even if Ailyn doubted Madisyn, dismissing Madisyn out of hand was reckless, considering Madisyn was engaged to Andrew.
They were baffled by Ailyn’s sharp and combative demeanor around Madisyn, a departure from her usual tactful and strategic interactions with others.
They were unaware that Ailyn saw no value in Madisyn and thus felt no need to mask her contempt.
Yet, she had experienced defeat at the hands of Madisyn, intensifying her resentment.
Ailyn’s hatred for Madisyn was so intense she viewed Madisyn’s mere existence as an insult. And because she believed that Madisyn couldn’t do anything to her, Ailyn made no effort to conceal her hostility.
These feelings clouded Ailyn’s judgment, obscuring her own mistakes, which were evident to onlookers. The man Ailyn had shrugged off now looked at her sternly, his concern evident.
“Ailyn Vettel, it’s time to set your prejudices aside and reassess Miss Johns. She may be your father’s only hope!” His tone echoed the reprimands of Ailyn’s father, sending a chill down her spine.
Catching the stern looks from the elders, she recognized their displeasure with her attitude.
Memories of her father, ill and vulnerable in bed, brought a moment of clarity to her agitated mind.
The elder continued, “Miss Johns is indeed Dr. Mia. Consider this; Mr. Klein wouldn’t have brought her if she wasn’t.”
Shock widened Ailyn’s eyes. Besides her, the elders present were the ones most desperate to secure Dr. Mia’s expertise.
Their conviction was surely grounded in something substantial.
Was Madisyn actually Dr. Mia?
As this possibility dawned on Ailyn, her hands shook while she watched Andrew and Madisyn, both looking resolute to leave. It struck her just how severe her error had been.
If they walked out now, she might lose any chance of contacting Dr. Mia again.
Panic surged within Ailyn, her pulse quickening. On her own initiative, she stepped in front of Madisyn, desperation clear in her widened eyes. “I’m truly sorry, Dr. Mia…”
Her voice was laden with urgency; previous contempt for Madisyn faded in light of her realization of Madisyn’s identity as Dr. Mia.
“I was blind to your true value. Please, I implore you to consider treating my father. No matter the cost, I am willing to pay it.”
