Madisyn had assumed she wouldn’t have any further interactions with Ailyn before reaching Mafelen, yet Ailyn persisted in reaching out to her.

“Dr. Mia, the Peterson Underground Winery is hosting a gathering. Would you care to join?”

“Dr. Mia, may I pay you a visit?”

“Dr. Mia, have you heard that…”

Madisyn scanned through Ailyn’s messages, each one marked by her steady refusal. Ailyn’s tenacity was becoming apparent.

She replied, “Since I promised to go to Mafelen, I won’t go back on my word. Please, don’t worry. Also, I would prefer if you called me Miss Johns.”

This respectful tone was a significant shift from Ailyn’s earlier demeanor towards Madisyn. Such a sudden change called for caution. Keeping this in mind, Madisyn thought about her plans in Mafelen and decided to set up a meeting with Jared at a cafe.

“Boss, are you actually planning to treat the head of the Vettel family?” Jared’s surprise made him nearly spit out his coffee.

“This is why I’m seeking your help,” Madisyn explained. “With proper preparation, I can approach the situation with greater peace of mind.”

Jared’s finger rhythmically tapped the table as he spoke. “I’m skeptical about leaving this in others’ hands. We have a branch in Mafelen, so I’ll accompany you under the guise of a business trip.”

Madisyn was moved by Jared’s sincere expression. “Thank you, Jared.”

“Think nothing of it, boss. But if you want to show your gratitude, assume leadership at Homelight Enterprise once we’re back from Mafelen. Then I might finally take a break.”

Madisyn hesitated for a moment. “I have to refuse.”

She was content with her current duties and wasn’t looking to increase her burden.

As she was packing, the doorbell chimed. Opening the door, she was greeted by Susan’s cheerful face. “Susan?” Madisyn expressed her surprise joyfully and ushered her inside.
