Chapter 982:

She lowered her gaze slightly. “Just as our lips were about to touch, I pushed him away. In that moment, I realized I didn’t want to be with him at all.”
Kole looked a little uneasy and tried to offer comfort. “Maybe it’s because you haven’t known him long. Everything moved too quickly. If you spend more time together, your feelings might change.”
Carole suddenly turned to him. “Do you want me to be with him?”
Kole didn’t answer immediately. A long silence stretched between them.
Seeing that he didn’t respond, Carole shrugged it off and changed the topic abruptly. “As for yesterday’s kiss, I —”
Kole quickly cut her off. “I understand. You were just joking yesterday. Don’t worry — I’ll forget about it, and I won’t tell anyone.”

Carole’s face instantly turned red with embarrassment and frustration. She grabbed the wilted seedling she had been struggling with, tossed it into his arms, then stood up and stamped her foot. “You dummy! You’re not allowed to forget it!”
Kole looked even more confused and rose to his feet as well. “You mean…”
“I mean…” Carole’s cheeks were flushed, and she bit her lip before speaking in a softer voice, barely above a whisper. “I want to try again.”
She glanced at him quickly. Seeing him standing there, clearly stunned, made a trace of shyness surface in her too. To hide it, she put on a firm expression and said, “Come here. That’s an order.”
Kole set the seedling aside and walked over without hesitation. He was much taller than her — by nearly a head — and when he stood in front of her, his presence naturally surrounded her.
“Lower your head,” she instructed.
He obeyed silently.
Carole raised both hands and gently held his face, as though worried he might step away. Their breathing was close now, mingling in the small space between them. She asked quietly, “Are you… willing?”
Kole looked at her, his throat moving slightly. “As long as it is your order, I will follow it.” That was always his answer.
But this time, for some reason, Carole didn’t feel satisfied hearing it. A small wave of irritation rose in her. Without thinking further, she stood on her toes and kissed him.
This time, it was nothing like yesterday’s brief and uncertain contact. It was clumsy, direct, and full of feeling — something she had imagined before but never truly understood, now carried out with urgency and honesty.
After a while, she pulled away, slightly out of breath. Both of their lips were noticeably red. Their faces were flushed, their ears warm, and even their necks carried a faint redness.
Carole bit her lip and looked at him. “So? What do you think?”
Kole avoided her gaze and answered quietly. “As long as you are happy, that is enough.”
“I’m asking you!” Carole snapped, frustrated, and pinched his arm. “Did you feel anything? Like a shock — something special?”
Kole looked at her again. His throat moved, but he said nothing.
