Chapter 758:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Their hair was already streaked with gray, but they were fit and lively, moving together with a kind of unspoken understanding that surprised everyone. They popped all three balloons and finished in just twelve seconds.
Ashton and I had no complaints about losing to them.
He said, “When we’re their age, we’ll be even more in sync than that.”
I nodded.
A cool breeze drifted through the night. Lights glowed under the palm trees. Ashton and I played until the kids were practically nodding off. Only then did we take them back to bed.
After getting them washed and tucked in, I went back to our room and found the bathtub already filled. A thick layer of fresh flower petals floated on the surface. The red rose petals in the center were arranged in the shape of a heart.
I froze for a moment, not sure if I was supposed to get in or not.
I pointed at Ashton. “You did this?”

He shrugged. “I asked the hotel to sort it out.”
I gave him a look that clearly said he should leave so I could bathe, but he didn’t move.
He looked at me, his Adam’s apple shifting. “This is our honeymoon.”
I stared back, unsure what exactly he meant by that.
He stepped closer.
His gaze burned into me as if he meant to set me on fire.
His Adam’s apple bobbed again, then he said plainly, “I want you.”
His voice was rough and dry.
I blinked at him, then took a few steps back.
He didn’t let me escape. For every step I took, he came closer, closing the distance between us.
“I want you.”
His voice rumbled above me, low and thick, his eyes slightly unfocused as something restless began to take root there.
I didn’t dare meet that heat. I lowered my head, trying to slip away, but he caught my chin and tilted it up, forcing me to look at him.
He was so close that his breath hit my face, hot and overwhelming.
“Say yes,” he pressed.
His voice had gone very hoarse.
If I didn’t push him away soon, things were going to spiral fast.
I shoved at his chest, flustered. “After I shower.”
He stopped mid-motion, just before his lips reached mine. The dazed look in his eyes faded slightly, replaced by a sly, triumphant grin.
“All right.”
One word, and it was soaked in giddy, unfiltered excitement.
I pushed past him toward the bathtub.
I’d only taken a few steps when I realized he was following me.
I turned around. “What are you doing?”
He curved his mouth into a smile. “Showering with you.”
He didn’t give me a chance to say no.
The tub sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, with the deep blue sea just outside. The night sky was clear, with not a single cloud. It looked so clean it felt like you could see the entire galaxy.
Starlight shimmered on the dark waves, breaking into faint ripples.
The sound of the tide rolled in again and again, steady and calming.
