Chapter 554:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Paula stepped forward, her voice laced with worry. “Emmalyn, are you sure this will work? Hayley doesn’t give up easily, and she has Kaden backing her.”
“What’s there to be afraid of?” Emmalyn scoffed. “Kaden has his hands full. There’s no way he can help Hayley. Besides, I have the original surveillance footage. Even if Hayley comes out and denies it, no one will believe her.”
Hearing this, Paula breathed a sigh of relief.
“Don’t worry, Paula,” Karin said, stepping forward to pat her shoulder. “Once Hayley is back in prison, we can finally rest easy. By then, your Smith family won’t have to go bankrupt, and our Adams family can restore its reputation.”
The promising outlook first relaxed Paula, then left her almost giddy. “This has been the most desperate time of my life. I’m sick of being broke, and I’m sick of the mockery. People who used to flatter me couldn’t wait to kick me while I was down.”
She looked at Emmalyn, her tone firm. “From now on, the Smith family will follow the Morgan family’s lead.”
Pleased, Emmalyn turned to Harold, who was sitting at his desk. “Dad, is everything in place?”
Harold took a drag from his cigarette and nodded. “That guy, Rowan, is checked into the Bliss Hotel. I’ve got a dozen bodyguards watching him around the clock. There shouldn’t be any problems.”
Emmalyn frowned. “But we still need to confirm his sister’s situation. Tomorrow’s livestream has to crush Hayley in one fell swoop. If anything goes wrong, all our efforts will have been for nothing.”

Harold sneered. “He wouldn’t dare betray us. I have his sister. As long as he wants to see her again, he won’t pull any tricks. His sister is a relative of his The One. That alone guarantees our victory.”
Emmalyn nodded, her tension easing slightly.
She had lost to Hayley too many times, and it had left a scar. She absolutely could not afford to lose again.
This time, especially, she felt that if she failed, she would lose everything.
There was a knock on the door.
Harold frowned. “Come in.”
His secretary walked in.
“Mr. Morgan, I’ve just received word that the Executive Vice President has suspended several company projects and reallocated all resources to prioritize the collaborations with Evans Group and Pioneer Group.”
“What?!” Harold demanded furiously. “Who authorized him to do that? How dare he suspend the company’s other projects and pour all our resources into the two that Hayley was originally in charge of?”
“Mr. Morgan, it was personally approved by Clinton.”
At the mention of that name, Harold’s expression darkened. He felt a sharp surge of resentment, wondering what his grandfather was trying to do — was he trying to turn him into a figurehead CEO?
The secretary explained, “Clinton’s reasoning is that both of these projects were secured through Hayley’s personal connections. To prevent any unforeseen changes in the partnerships, he agreed to concentrate our resources to complete them as quickly as possible.”
