Chapter 570:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
The only time Hayley ever saw her lose her temper was after she had accidentally offended a corrections officer and been beaten nearly to death. Just before she lost consciousness, she saw the fury blazing in Lorna’s eyes. That terrifying aura, like a demon’s wrath unleashed, sent a wave of pure terror through the prison.
When she woke up, the guard was gone. Some said he was fired. Others whispered he’d lost his mind and been committed.
From that moment on, Hayley’s loyalty to Lorna became absolute. It was Lorna who had set her on this thorny path of revenge, the path she had walked, step by step, to this very day.
“Are you all right?” Kaden’s voice pulled her from her thoughts. He had noticed her mind was elsewhere.
“I’m fine.” Hayley composed herself, offering a quick, dismissive smile. “Mr. Evans, it sounds like that woman left quite an impression on you.”
Kaden nodded. “Everything I’ve built, it wasn’t just about the Evans family’s training. I’ve been chasing her shadow. My goal has always been to surpass her.”
“Mr. Evans, good luck with that, then. I’m sure you can do it.” A flicker of hidden amusement passed through Hayley’s eyes, there and gone in an instant.
Kaden caught the faint smirk on her face and sighed, tapping his fingers on the table. “Why do I get the feeling you’re mocking me more than encouraging me?”
Hayley shrugged, the corner of her mouth lifting into a smile. “Who knows? Maybe I’ll be the one to surpass her first.”
A sharp glint lit Kaden Evans’s eyes. He felt the long-dormant thrill of a worthy challenge stir within him. “Alright,” he said. “We’ll see about that. Don’t get too confident.”
“You’re on,” Hayley shot back.

Outside, the moonlight caught the curve of her brilliant smile. Her eyes, clear and bright, seemed to hold the reflection of the full moon, and the sight made his chest tighten. This woman got under his skin without even trying.
“Mr. Evans…”
“Don’t call me that when we’re alone,” Kaden cut her off, his voice softening unexpectedly. “The rest of the world calls me that. But you, you can just use my name.”
“Force of habit,” Hayley said with a shrug. Her tone was casual, but a sly flicker in her gaze gave her away. “Still, if you don’t like it, I’ll stop.”
Kaden’s mood lifted. He turned and walked toward the bedroom, his stride full of easy confidence. “I’m staying the night. It’s your villa now, after all, the deed is in your name.”
“Kaden, have you no shame?” Hayley hurried after him, her voice a mix of exasperation and fluster. “Did I say you could?”
Kaden kept walking, dismissing her protest with a lazy wave. “We’re still married. What’s the problem? Even if we divorced, half of everything here would be mine by law.”
“You can’t be serious! This is shameless robbery!” Hayley shouted.
Kaden let out a rare, booming laugh. “If it’s a robbery, then you’re the prize!”
The next morning, countless people were glued to their screens, waiting for the next development in the brewing controversy. The online fury against Hayley had reached a fever pitch, splitting the internet into two warring camps.
