Chapter 1116:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Hannah was the first to speak, her tone calm and businesslike. “Vincent, let’s process the paperwork to transfer the shares back to you as soon as you’re available. Just tell me if there’s anything you need from me.”
Vincent met her gaze and held it for a few moments. Then he shook his head slowly. “There’s no rush.”
Hannah kept her tone steady. “We need to settle this quickly. It concerns the core operations of Jones Group. Without proper authorization in place, nothing will progress as it should. My schedule is open, so inform me once everything is arranged. I will cooperate fully with the lawyers and notaries.”
Her words landed with crisp precision, drawing a clear line between responsibility and anything personal. The entire matter sounded like pure obligation, untouched by the slightest hint of emotion.
Vincent let his deep gaze linger on her, unreadable yet unwavering. After several quiet seconds, he gave a small, almost imperceptible nod.
Then they stepped out of the car and walked side by side toward the elevator.
When they reached her floor, Vincent accompanied her to her doorstep without a word.
“I’ll head inside now,” Hannah murmured, her fingers curling gently around the door handle.

“Hannah.” Vincent’s voice cut through the moment, soft yet weighted.
Her hand stilled as she lifted her gaze to him.
He closed the distance by a single step, his eyes taking in every detail of her face as his Adam’s apple shifted faintly. A blend of emotions flickered across his expression. “Do we still have a future together?” he asked.
The question came abruptly, striking her with unexpected force.
Hannah’s grip on the handle tightened, her knuckles paling. Something in her chest constricted, a muted ache blooming with quiet sharpness.
A long silence stretched between them, heavy enough to still the air.
Eventually, Hannah pushed the door open. “Come in. Let’s talk inside.”
Once inside, they settled onto the sofa, a measured distance between them.
Seconds slipped by with quiet persistence, each one deepening the tension. Neither found the courage to speak first.
“You—”
Their voices collided at the same moment, stopping them both.
Vincent fixed his steady, dark eyes on her. “You should go first.”
Hannah didn’t hesitate or shy away. She drew a gentle breath, folded her hands over her knees, and let her gaze drift to an unfocused point ahead. “Vincent, we have lived through so much together—so many moments that I can’t even recall every detail.”
A brief pause settled between them as she gathered her thoughts, steadying both breath and emotion. “We married, but then divorced because of Brinley, along with countless misunderstandings and layers of distrust. After the divorce, you exhausted every method you could think of to persuade me to remarry you. Then came the kidnappings, the brushes with death, one after another. Sometimes, I genuinely wonder why so many people seem determined to destroy us.”
