Chapter 488:

Thomas immediately agreed, “Okay, I’ll be right there.”
He showed up in half an hour and carried the inebriated Micah into his car.
Before leaving, Thomas waved at Darya.
Darya managed a forced smile and bid him farewell, only heading back to her house after Thomas’s car disappeared from view. The incident left Darya feeling unsettled for several days.
Matthias, always the perceptive one, was the first to inquire, “Darya, what’s going on? You look troubled.”
“I’m fine. Just been a bit tired lately,” Darya replied, avoiding the topic of her entanglement with Micah and coming up with an excuse to keep it to herself.
Avery chimed in, “Maybe you need a change of scenery. Paragon has some business in the country of Gavarnia. I was about to go on a trip.
But if you’re up for it, you can go in my place.”
Darya considered the suggestion for a moment.
A vacation, even with some work thrown in, sounded like a good idea to clear her mind. “All right, let’s do it.”
Word quickly reached Micah through Reece that Darya had left Hagen for an overseas trip.
“When did she leave?” Micah and Reece were discussing business over coffee when the news hit him like a bolt of lightning.
“Just the day before yesterday,” Reece informed him. “I happened to be at Paragon’s office for a meeting. Avery met me instead of Darya. He mentioned that she had gone abroad and might not return for a while.”
Micah’s expression changed dramatically.
Darya was gone?
Why?
Was it because of him?

His memory of that drunken night was hazy at best.
Thomas had been the one to inform him that he was left at Darya’s doorstep.
Micah had given Ryan a good scolding and had been too embarrassed to approach Darya in the following days.
But now, Reece was telling him that Darya had gone abroad, possibly never to return.
“Where did she go?” Micah stood up, his urgency driving him to rush to the airport.
“I heard it’s—” Reece began, but before he could finish his sentence, he watched Micah stride away with purpose.
Reece shook his head.
