Chapter 106:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Oh… it’s Uncle Tristan… He said he’d take me to the amusement park with him! Right now, I’m at the amusement park with Uncle Tristan.
Darling, it’s so much fun! Do you want to come with us, Darling?”
With that, Adrian excitedly began describing the places he’d been playing. “Darling, you know… Uncle Tristan just took me inside the haunted house! It looked scary, but I wasn’t afraid.
I even tore off the ghost’s mask, and there was a person inside!” He giggled, his laughter clear over the phone.
It was obvious he was still completely immersed in the fun he was having.
“And Darling! Just now, Uncle Tristan helped me win a doll! I got one for you too. Uncle Tristan also got you a necklace. Isn’t it great?”
Adrian, holding his phone with one hand, walked beside Tristan, his arms full of toys. From time to time, the tall man next to him brought food to Adrian’s mouth.
It was like Adrian was being pampered—it was perfect.
In fact, when they were abroad, Stella had never been able to take her son to an amusement park. She had been too busy working. What’s more, she worked two jobs at a time, sometimes without a day off for the entire month.
As she thought about it, she realized how much she’d missed the chance to take Adrian to the amusement park.
“Darling, I still have cotton candy!” Adrian exclaimed, switching the call to video mode.
He had clearly explored all the functions on his phone.
On the screen, Stella saw her precious son’s face, still covered in cotton candy. It was dusk, and the glow of the setting sun bathed his soft, rosy cheeks. A smile played on his lips.
Adrian wasn’t used to amusement parks, but today he seemed so proud. “Darling, look! There’s a merry-go-round! Uncle Tristan said he’ll take me on it. Do you want to play with us? There are so many lights! It’s really beautiful.”
It was rare to see Adrian so excited. He couldn’t stop talking, even with his mouth full of cotton candy. His cheeks were puffed up as he spoke, making him look even cuter.

Seeing that her son was happy and safe, Stella said, “It’s okay, Adrian. I have something to do, and I’ll have to work overtime tonight.
I can’t come play with you today, but I’ll take you there in a few days. Go home early and get some rest. Do you want me to ask Emily to pick you up?”
Stella and Cherry still had to go to Starlight Nightclub later that night to find Andrew Matthews, so she couldn’t pick up Adrian herself. She was about to trouble Emily again.
But Adrian, having too much fun, didn’t want to leave.
Adrian quickly waved his small hand in front of the camera and said, “No, Darling, no need. Uncle Tristan said he’d take me home.
And tonight, there are fireworks at the amusement park! Uncle Tristan said he’ll stay with me to watch them. Don’t worry about me! You go ahead and work overtime. I’m with Uncle Tristan!”
Stella was speechless.
This kid… did he even need his mom anymore?
He kept talking about Uncle Tristan, as if saying his name had become second nature to him.
Stella hadn’t expected that, after Tristan had mentioned wanting to take care of her and Adrian earlier that day, he would already be so close to her son!
She thought about asking Emily to accompany Adrian to the amusement park and watch the fireworks with him. It seemed better than leaving him with Tristan. There was something about the situation that felt a bit strange to her.
“Stella…”
Stella was still considering how to handle the situation when Tristan’s handsome face suddenly appeared on the screen.
It seemed like they were resting on a bench.
After taking Adrian’s phone, Tristan raised it with his long arm, and now both their faces appeared on the screen, along with the background. There was a Ferris wheel behind them.
Just looking at the scene, Stella couldn’t help but imagine how loving it would seem if she were there.
Adrian, still eating cotton candy, had toys piled on his short legs—dolls he’d won. Tristan held the phone in one hand while using a tissue to wipe Adrian’s neck with the other.
The tissue had cotton candy on it, which he’d probably used to clean Adrian’s face earlier.
“Stella, I’ll send Adrian home by 9 PM,” Tristan said. “Adrian told me he rarely gets to go out and play, so I wanted to take him to the amusement park while he’s still young. I don’t want him to miss out on these experiences.”
Stella didn’t know what to say.
His words sounded so sincere, as if he was just trying to make sure Adrian had a good time. But to Stella, they were also a reminder of how, for all these years, she hadn’t been able to spend time with Adrian because of how busy she was with work.
Even though she’d always been by Adrian’s side, she’d neglected the importance of making these memories with him.
Tristan continued, “I want to be good to you and Adrian from now on. I’ll prove it to you. I care about him too.”
Stella’s heart skipped a beat for no reason. A warm feeling spread from the bottom of her heart.
Looking at the two faces on the screen, Tristan’s expression was gentle, and Adrian, giggling beside him, covered his little mouth with his hands to stop himself from laughing and ruining the moment.
There was an undeniable warmth in the scene before her…
