Chapter 336:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“You were also abroad for six years, weren’t you? Don’t worry; I will make my return when it’s time. As for you, take care of yourself.” Violet’s response had always avoided the word “return.”
“Hey, don’t tell me you don’t want to come back. Mr. Bryant is waiting for you. Do you have the heart to see the two old men waiting with their necks strained?” Stella pressed on. With Violet’s filial piety, she would certainly feel sorry for her parents.
“Let’s talk about it later. I’m busy these days and can’t free myself from the affairs of the magazine committee.” Violet seemed hesitant.
“Have you encountered any problems?” With Violet’s carefree character, it was rare for her to be so undecided. Deep down, Stella sensed that something must have happened to her.
“No, with my ability, what problem could I possibly encounter? My life is smooth sailing right now. What do you think? Are you envious?”
“Hmph.” Stella suppressed the doubt in her heart and wore the grin she had on her face before. Violet had always been a strong girl, and Stella believed that no matter what problem she faced, she could resolve it on her own.
After the video call with Violet, Stella turned off the laptop. A glance at the clock revealed that it was late… It was past ten o’clock in the evening. Stella instructed RK to carry her to the toilet. After the trip to the washroom, she lay down on the bed and fell into a deep slumber.
Two days passed uneventfully…
Every day, Stella felt frustrated after staring at the laptop screen, her eyes locked on the documents with conflict written all over her face. She figured she had reached the bottleneck of creative writing, as she had no thoughts or ideas.
Except for blankly staring at the laptop screen and the scenery outside the window, she felt as if she would grow mold in the next moment. Why hadn’t her injury healed?
What was strange was that RK was not around that morning. Where had he wandered off to? Was anything happening to her in the ward?
RK picked up a phone call when he was about to buy breakfast in the morning. It was from an unfamiliar caller ID.

“Hello?”
“Hey, RK? Can you recognize who I am just from my voice?” The voice on the other end of the phone barely concealed its roughness.
“Carson Vives,” RK replied flatly. “What’s the matter?”
“I’m back in the country. I’m here to reminisce about the old days with you.” Carson’s burst of laughter echoed over the phone, his attitude carefree.
“There’s no need to talk about the old days. I’m busy,” RK coldly refused.
“Oh, in that case, I guess I will have to pay a visit to the hospital to check out the lady who is the reason behind Mr. Kingston’s business.”
Carson’s intentions were clear—he wanted to meet RK.
“There’s no need,” RK cut him off. “Nine o’clock at the coffee shop opposite the RK Group.”
“Great. As expected of Rene Kingston. You are as straightforward as before.” Carson hung up the phone.
RK had no choice but to shove his phone into his pocket and return to the hospital with breakfast. Carson was certainly coming for him, to the point of investigating the reason behind his business. It seemed that Carson was approaching him in a rather menacing manner.
After hanging up the phone, Carson took a nap in the hotel. When he woke up, it was around seven. He ordered food online and, in boredom, withdrew a stack of graduation photos.
Back then…
Back then, he had made a name for himself throughout high school. No matter if it was boys or girls, there wasn’t a single one he didn’t recognize or know.
Back then, he knew there was a boy in a nearby high school who was widely favored and received attention from the girls. His name was Rene Kingston. Carson had assumed that RK was more of a gigolo, so he didn’t attach much importance to him.
It wasn’t until one day that he failed to win the heart of the campus beauty. After the campus belle confessed to developing feelings for RK from another high school, only then did Carson start to notice the boy named Rene Kingston. It was said that no matter which beauty confessed to him, they would all be coldly rejected…
Even so, countless girls fell head over heels for him. Carson didn’t believe that an annoying gigolo could be so popular, so he stopped RK on the lawn not far from the school gate one afternoon.
Seeing the group of boys, he mustered up the courage to block their way. Yet, he couldn’t tell who RK was, so he simply decided to ask around. “RK, who is RK?” The group of boys answered in unison, “Boss and Aden are on duty upstairs!”
Little did he expect a big shot like Rene Kingston to be on duty. It was simply not in line with the usual practice of the big shots. They stood still, waiting. After about ten minutes on the lawn, they saw a duo with extraordinary temperament exiting the building.
“Which one of you is Rene Kingston?” Carson stopped them as if he were a crime boss.
