Chapter 371:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
**The Burden On**
“Miss Richard, in short, prepare yourself. I will show you my sincerity.”
“I am glad to hear that,” Stella said with a smile. “I hope you can persevere.”
The meal was uneventful. Carson sent Stella home afterward and made a note of the location of her home.
All in all, provoking RK was the most important thing for him now. Although Carson felt very uncomfortable about it, he knew he had to follow through with his decision.
It had to be said that Stella was a very wise girl. She had seen through his scheme and even revealed the guilt he had mentioned. She was indeed an extraordinary woman.
Not long after Stella returned home, she received a call from RK.
“I heard that Carson was waiting for you downstairs today?” As soon as Stella answered the call, RK’s question crashed down on her.
“Yes.”
“What did the two of you do?”
No matter how Stella interpreted RK’s tone, it felt as if he had caught her red-handed.
“Nothing. We just had a meal.”
“Are you very familiar with Carson?”
“We are not familiar with each other,” Stella told him the truth.

“You and he are not familiar with each other, yet you went to dinner together?” There was a strong hint of jealousy in his voice.
“I’m not familiar with you either, but we ate together, didn’t we?” Stella retorted matter-of-factly.
“Can Carson compare with me?” It was obvious that RK was very dissatisfied with Stella’s answer. “Don’t get too close to Carson in the future.”
“Why? Carson is not your girlfriend.”
RK felt that Stella had become much sharper in her responses recently. She even dared to openly tease him.
After hanging up the phone, RK couldn’t shake his unease, so he knocked on Adrian’s door.
“Hey, Bad Uncle, haven’t you slept yet?” Adrian was on the bed, reading a comic book. As soon as he saw RK enter, he sat up.
“Well, Adrian, I am here to tell you some unfortunate news,” RK said with a gloomy expression on his face.
“What is it?”
“Darling might have been seduced by a bad uncle.” RK’s expression was full of grief.
“Aren’t you the bad uncle?” Adrian blinked his big, innocent eyes.
“No, I’m talking about a very bad uncle. He wants to take Darling away.”
RK was really fascinated by Adrian’s way of thinking. “Ah? Why? What should we do?” Adrian looked anxious and worried.
“That bad uncle has taken a fancy to Darling’s beauty. If he wants to take her away, we have to take action.”
“What does beauty mean? Can you eat it?” Adrian asked innocently.
“Uh… No, let’s not talk about beauty for now. Adrian, it’s all up to you how we handle this.” RK’s expression seemed to say, “I trust you,” as he patted Adrian’s shoulder heavily. “I will give you this great and difficult task now. The burden on your shoulders will be very heavy.”
The next day, Adrian was sent back to Stella’s place.
Stella was very curious. How could RK send Adrian back so easily? However, no matter how she tried to ask Adrian, he refused to tell her what RK had said. He only mentioned that he had missed Darling so much, which made Stella very worried.
This child had only been living with the Kingston family for a short time, yet he had already learned to keep secrets from her. It was infuriating.
Although she thought so, she was still very happy that Adrian was able to come back. He hadn’t returned home for such a long time, so she didn’t know if he was used to being back.
Stella resumed her life as a full-time mother. The first thing she did every day after work was pick up Adrian from school and then go home to cook.
Although this kind of life passed slowly, she felt that it was still very beautiful.
Sometimes, people could easily be satisfied. As long as they were with their loved ones and enjoyed a good, healthy life, that was a kind of happiness.
Most of the time, Stella was very content. She had a beloved son, a comfortable life, and thoughtful friends. Although there were occasional accidents in life, how could life be without them?
The most important thing was contentment and happiness. Just like her, she was the happiest now. Because Adrian was with her, no matter how boring life was, she could still spend it happily.
Most of the time, Stella was not a very optimistic person. She was actually extremely sensitive.
However, she never showed it. When she was young, she didn’t have such feelings. When she grew up, no one cared about them.
Later, she became independent and self-reliant, making it difficult for her to get close to others. Sometimes, the words of others, spoken unintentionally, might be unpleasant to hear, but they still made her uncomfortable.
Maybe that person had no impression of it afterward, but she would mind it. Sometimes, she just didn’t want to rely too much on others.
That was because she felt that people couldn’t take care of another person wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return. Once that person felt they owed her something, they would think that if they owned her, they would have to pay it back.
They would rarely ask for anything from another person. Even if it was difficult for her, she would still fulfill it, because she didn’t want that person to feel that she owed them. She would want to repay them.
Stella was precisely that kind of person. She was extremely proud and had great self-esteem. She would not allow others to trample on her.
