Chapter 520:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
If it weren’t for RK asking her to attend, Stella wouldn’t have come with him. A dull pain throbbed in her temples, and she longed for a good rest.
“Rene, long time no see!” A pleasant male voice rose from behind RK.
RK turned slightly and, upon seeing who it was, a rare smile broke through his usually stoic expression. He apologized to the colleagues who had been speaking with him and strode forward.
“I haven’t seen you in a long time, Daniel.” RK greeted the man in front of him, and they shook hands firmly.
Daniel Lincon had handsome features and a perfect face, exuding a sense of wild charm. RK, equally striking, resembled a sculpted figure, his blue, deep eyes giving him a wild and captivating allure.
When two equally remarkable men stood together, they naturally attracted more attention.
Daniel raised his eyebrows slightly. “I noticed you haven’t been back in ages. Are you planning to set a trap in the country?”
“I think so,” RK replied, picking up his glass to clink it with Daniel’s. He took a sip of red wine and smiled at Daniel.
“Look who I brought here.” RK turned, revealing a woman both he and Stella recognized.
“Rene, I miss you so much.” The longing in Sophia’s eyes was unmistakable as she gazed at RK.
RK regarded Sophia with surprise; he hadn’t anticipated seeing her just two days after their last meeting. Stella also spotted Sophia.
“Rene, did you bring the beauty over there?” Daniel pointed to Stella, who was not far away, a mischievous smile crossing his face. Their striking appearances made it hard for Stella not to notice them.

RK took a sip of the red wine in his glass and replied, “That’s my wife. I got married more than two years ago.”
“You’re married? But you’re dating Sophia, right? Didn’t you say you’d only marry Sophia in this life?” Daniel expressed disbelief, as he had always thought RK cherished Sophia.
“My wife is Sophia’s younger sister,” RK stated, his frown deepening slightly as he clarified.
Sophia, meanwhile, glared at Stella, a flicker of jealousy in her eyes.
“Sophia, Rene’s wife—she’s your sister?” Daniel asked Sophia, astonished.
“Well, yes, that’s my sister.” Sophia quickly masked her jealousy and smiled at Daniel.
Daniel looked at RK and secretly gave him a thumbs-up. “This guy is so impressive, taking care of both sisters. I, Daniel, admire him.”
Daniel raised his glass to Stella, who stood a short distance away, taking a sip of his wine.
Stella glanced at Daniel and mirrored his action, sipping the red wine in her glass.
Daniel noticed the loneliness in Stella’s eyes. She was as lovely as a flower, yet she belonged to RK. It felt unfair to him.
Stella rubbed her aching temples. It felt stuffy in the room, so she decided to step outside.
A pair of envious eyes closely followed Stella’s every move. When she left the banquet hall, the owner of those eyes followed closely behind.
It was a tranquil night. The lights illuminated the sea, making it shimmer.
Stella stood on the deck, gazing at the water. The weight in her heart began to lift.
“Stella, long time no see.” A soft voice called from behind her.
Stella turned to find Sophia approaching. When had Sophia, who was usually by RK’s side, come out here?
“Sophia, I haven’t seen you for a long time.” Upon seeing Stella, Sophia felt momentarily breathless.
From a distance, she had thought Stella was beautiful, but now she was even more stunning in person. Dressed in a black evening gown, Stella’s exquisite figure was accentuated beautifully. Her eyebrows arched delicately, her skin glowed like porcelain, and her eyes sparkled like shallow waters. But why did she seem so cold?
Stella nodded slightly. “Aren’t you with RK?” Her voice was barely above a whisper, like a droplet falling into the sea.
“Long time no see. I’m just here to catch up with you.”
Sophia’s thoughts drifted to how RK had sent her overseas while Stella remained by RK’s side. A strong surge of jealousy swelled in her heart.
“Haha, you want to reminisce about old times with me?” Stella wanted to avoid too much interaction with Sophia. She pressed her hand against her forehead as her temples throbbed even more.
“Stella, I came out to tell you something. I want you to leave Rene!” Sophia’s shrill voice pierced through the air, ringing in Stella’s ears.
“Sophia, I think you’ve got it wrong. You should be telling that to RK!” Stella frowned, clearly disgusted.
“Haha, that’s ridiculous. You think Rene has been pestering you? He has never liked you! He has always liked me. I didn’t expect you to be so shameless,” Sophia shot back, disdain evident in her tone.
“If you enjoy causing trouble, find someone else. I don’t have time for your antics!” Stella’s patience was wearing thin. The beauty of the evening felt tainted by Sophia’s unreasonable behavior.
“You…” Sophia seethed. As she saw Stella about to walk away, she rolled her eyes and leaned against a pole, gripping it tightly with both hands. “I beg you, leave Rene. I love him!” Sophia’s voice turned soft, laced with desperation.
Stella turned back. Upon seeing Sophia’s precarious position, she felt a rush of alarm and hurriedly called out, “Sophia, it’s dangerous to be up there! Come down!”
“Are you kidding me? Does she really think she can threaten me with a stunt like this?” Stella thought, realizing that if Sophia fell…
A cold sweat trickled down Stella’s forehead. She couldn’t bear to imagine the consequences.
“No… It’s late. I know I’m being willful and stubborn, but I love Rene. I can’t live without him!”
Suddenly, a gust of sea wind blew Sophia’s hair back.
Her petite frame swayed precariously, sending fear coursing through Stella. Even if she understood Sophia was likely acting out for attention, she couldn’t help but worry about how her father and RK would react if something happened to her.
Sophia’s sorrowful cries struck Stella hard…
It wasn’t wrong to love someone, regardless of how one pursued that love or what kind of person they were.
Stella stepped closer to Sophia, moving carefully. “Come down first, okay?”
“No! Unless you promise me you’ll leave Rene, I will jump from here!” A cunning look flickered in Sophia’s tear-filled eyes.
Unfortunately, Stella, consumed by anxiety, didn’t catch the shift in her expression.
“Okay, I promise you. Just come down quickly, alright?” Stella said, her voice tinged with urgency.
When Sophia heard this, a smile spread across her face, yet she remained rooted in place. “What’s the matter?”
Stella was already on edge. What if Sophia fell from the ledge?
“Stella… My legs are weak… I can’t get down. What should I do…”
Sophia’s voice trembled, and Stella’s heart raced.
“Don’t move! I’ll help you!” Stella called out, leaning back in an attempt to grasp Sophia’s hand. However, the railing was too high, forcing her to climb up on it.
