Chapter 522:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“Save me… save me…” RK frowned, noticing Stella’s hand in the water. He reached in and grasped her hand.
Stella clutched RK’s hand as if she were dreaming, feeling as if she had found a life-saving lifeline.
With one of RK’s hands held by Stella, he could only lift her with one arm.
“Cold… cold…” Stella trembled, as if she had fallen into a sea of ice.
RK held Stella in his arms, and she could feel the warmth radiating from his body. Like an octopus, she wrapped her arms around him.
RK emerged from the bathroom with Stella in his arms, laying her gently on the bed and changing the blanket for her. He wanted to grab a bath towel to dry her hair, but Stella held onto his hand tightly, preventing him from pulling it away.
With no other option, RK took off his wet clothes and climbed into bed beside her. As Stella nestled closer, she felt the warmth from RK’s body envelop her.
RK reached out to touch Stella’s forehead, only to find it cold and not hot at all. He remembered that her forehead had been burning after she had been drenched in the rain. This time, after soaking in the sea for so long, it was cool to the touch.
RK sighed with relief and moved his hand away from her forehead, hugging her back gently.
On the other side, Sophia had fainted from exhaustion. She woke up shortly after RK left, still soaked from the sea, and discovered she had a high fever.
Sophia recalled how RK had abandoned Stella for her. However, when she regained consciousness, she was disappointed not to see him.
She glanced at the waiter standing nearby and called for RK, claiming she had a high fever.
Sophia touched her forehead, confirming it was indeed quite hot.

“Knock… knock…” RK heard a knock at the door. He gently pushed Stella away, got up, and opened the door while wearing a bathrobe.
“Mr. Kingston, Miss Richard has a sudden fever.” The waiter was outside. Before RK left, he had instructed that if Sophia felt unwell, she should call for him immediately.
Hearing that Sophia had a high fever, RK didn’t even take the time to change before rushing to her side.
Stella opened her eyes as soon as RK left.
She looked at the ceiling, thinking about RK’s hasty departure. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
On the deck, a man recalled what he had just witnessed… This felt like a drama: a man and two sisters.
He had felt a bit tired at the banquet and wanted to rest on the deck and enjoy the sea breeze, but he hadn’t expected to encounter this scene.
As soon as he stepped onto the deck, he heard two women talking. He considered leaving but glanced over at the scene.
One woman stood on the railing, appearing dangerously poised to jump into the sea. The other woman looked anxious, trying to persuade her to come down.
He recognized them as the daughters of the Richard family. The one threatening to jump was the eldest daughter, while the second was the younger sister who had married into the Kingston family.
These two sisters were competing for the same man.
He decided to intervene; after all, falling into the sea was no joking matter. But as soon as he took a step forward, events took a sudden turn.
The First Miss of the Richard family jumped down, leaving the Second Miss behind. After pushing the younger sister, the elder sister leaned against the railing with a smug smile.
Women could be so jealous. For a man, they might even harm their own sisters.
He had expected the elder sister to merely watch her younger sibling drown, but who would have thought she would jump in after her?
Then, he heard someone shouting that someone had fallen into the sea.
When he heard calls for help, he wanted to leave, but then he saw RK emerging and jumping into the water.
He froze, wanting to see what RK cared about.
Seeing RK save Stella, he assumed RK was in love with his wife. He didn’t expect RK to abandon her and instead embrace his sister-in-law when she fainted.
He noticed the Second Miss wake up and climb back onto the deck. As she passed by him, he saw a coldness in her eyes, as if she were completely unfazed by the situation.
The Kingston and Richard families were certainly intriguing.
“Rene.” Sophia immediately sat up when she spotted RK entering.
“Sophia, are you alright?” RK sat beside her, touching her forehead and finding it quite warm.
“Yes, I’m fine,” Sophia replied, looking at RK.
“Sophia, what happened just now? How did you both fall into the sea?” RK’s voice trembled as he recalled the earlier events.
“Rene, can I not tell you?” Sophia met RK’s gaze, fear evident in her eyes.
RK frowned, studying Sophia.
Seeing the distress on RK’s face, Sophia began to recount what happened slowly.
“Just now, I went out when I realized it was late. I hadn’t seen Stella in a long time, so I wanted to talk to her.”
“Who would have thought that Stella would tell me to stay away from you and claim you were hers? I couldn’t say anything; after all, she is your wife.”
RK listened as Sophia spoke, tears welling in her eyes. He reached out to comfort her, unaware of the smug look in her expression.
“And then she stood on the railing late at night, threatening to jump if I didn’t leave you. I could only promise her I would.”
“When I tried to pull her back, she pushed me away. I wanted to let her go, thinking it would be fine for me to fall. After all, I know how to swim. But before I could let go, she fell in with me.”
Feeling Sophia tremble, RK gently patted her back.
“Well, it’s alright.”
RK frowned as he processed Sophia’s words. He hadn’t expected Stella, usually indifferent, to act so dramatically. Normally, she seemed refined, but he didn’t anticipate the darkness that lay within her heart. If he had known, he wouldn’t have brought her to this event.
“Sophia, once you recover, I will send you abroad. You can have some fun there.”
Hearing RK’s plans to send her away again, Sophia pushed him away and crawled under the covers.
RK watched her retreat under the blanket, feeling helpless. He lifted it slightly and reached out to comfort her.
“Sophia, after I settle things here, I’ll divorce Stella, okay?” RK assured her, patting her back gently.
“Well, I’ll wait for you. I’ve been waiting so long. I’m not afraid to wait a bit longer.”
RK coaxed Sophia until she fell asleep. He stepped out onto the balcony, reflecting on the moment he first met Sophia.
Back then, while abroad, RK had been busy when he saw Sophia chasing after a thief, high heels in hand. He had cursed her for her recklessness. At that time, RK had thought she was spoiled.
As he was about to leave, Sophia had stopped him, asking for help to catch the thief, insisting there was something very important in her purse.
RK had no desire to engage with her and intended to walk around, but Sophia stood firm in her request. RK had called his bodyguards to assist her, but he hadn’t expected her to be so self-absorbed.
“Oh, thank you! Thank you for sending such a strong man to help me.” Seeing Sophia again, RK had raised his eyebrows and instructed the bodyguards to help her retrieve her purse.
