Chapter 528:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Stella asked flatly, “What’s going on?”
“Nothing, just that I was going to look for you. I didn’t expect you to call me first and say that we really have a mutual understanding,” Emily replied with a laugh from the other end of the phone.
“Well, I’ll wait for you at home.” After saying that, Stella hung up.
When Emily arrived in the afternoon, Aunt Maya informed her that Stella was taking a nap, so Emily waited in the living room.
When Stella woke up, she found Emily sitting there. “When did you come? Why didn’t you call me?” Stella asked as she sat down beside Emily. She noticed that she had been feeling increasingly sleepy since she became pregnant.
“I’ve just been here for a little while. I didn’t want to disturb you, future mom,” Emily teased, looking at Stella. Stella smiled back at Emily and then asked about work, “Do you have a job now?”
Emily nodded in response. “That’s good. I’ve always felt guilty. It’s been a while since you last had a job.”
“It’s okay. I found one. I’m starting in two days. I might not be able to come here often to chat with you.”
“I’m fine,” Stella smiled.
“Speaking of Damien, I wonder how he’s doing now. Does this guy have a girlfriend? He hasn’t contacted us for so long.” Emily recalled Damien, who had been out of touch for quite a while.
“Okay.”
It took her a moment to get through.
As soon as the call connected, Emily spoke, “Damien, you haven’t contacted me in ages. Did you get a girlfriend abroad? Tell me the truth.”

“Hello, Damien is taking a shower. It’s not convenient to answer the phone right now.”
Emily was startled to hear a man’s voice instead of Damien’s. She quickly checked the caller ID to confirm it was indeed Damien calling.
“Oh, I see. Then I’ll hang up. Bye-bye.” Emily immediately ended the call, looking at her phone in confusion.
“Emily, what’s wrong? What did Damien say? Why do you look so surprised?” Stella noticed Emily’s distressed expression and grew concerned that something had happened to Damien.
“It’s half past two in the afternoon. It should be past nine o’clock in the evening over there. Why would a man pick up Damien’s phone at such a late hour? I wouldn’t find it strange if it were a woman.”
Emily looked at Stella and expressed her thoughts in a daze.
When she called Damien earlier, she forgot it was nighttime on his side, leading to the misunderstanding about the man answering the phone.
“It’s not strange; it’s probably just a friend of Damien’s,” Stella said, unable to think of anything unusual.
“He said Damien was in the shower, and he called him ‘Little Min.’ It’s so late. Even if he is a friend, it’s strange for them to be living together. Damien isn’t short on money.”
Emily felt uneasy about this situation. Why did it seem off to her?
After hearing Emily’s words, Stella suddenly felt a shift in her intuition.
As soon as Wayne hung up the phone, Damien emerged from the bathroom.
Wayne held Damien’s mobile phone, contemplating the late-night call from someone in Damien’s family.
He handed the phone to Damien, who was drying his hair.
“Someone called you just now. It was a beautiful woman,” Wayne said, raising his eyebrows and glancing at Damien.
“A beauty? Wayne, how can you answer my calls without permission?” Damien glared at Wayne, snatching the phone to check the call log. He saw it was from Emily and immediately dialed her back.
On the other end, as Emily and Stella chatted about Damien, Emily noticed the incoming call. She answered and put the call on speaker. “Sister Emily, what’s up? Why are you calling me so late?”
“What, if there’s nothing else, I wouldn’t bother calling you.”
“No, no, hehe,” Wayne smiled at Damien, who was grinning like a fool. Wayne felt that Damien needed a lesson.
“Damien, I haven’t heard from you in a long time. How are things on your end?”
Listening to their light banter, Stella thought back to when Damien hadn’t gone abroad, and how he and Emily used to argue.
“Stella!” Damien’s voice straightened at the mention of her name.
When Wayne heard Damien say Stella’s name, he knew she was present.
It appeared that Damien still held feelings for Stella.
“Hey, Damien, why is the handsome guy who answered your phone at this hour? He said you were taking a shower.” Emily’s curiosity piqued; she was eager for gossip.
“Hmm? You mean Wayne?”
Wayne, hearing his name mentioned, walked over and sat next to Damien.
“So, the handsome guy is named Wayne. Good name. What’s he like? Also, hurry up and answer my question!”
“Oh, I had dinner at his house this afternoon. It was a bit late and raining outside, so I didn’t go back.” Damien glanced at the rain outside, feeling a chill as he wrapped himself in a quilt.
“Well, I believe that. But you aren’t sleeping in the same room as him, are you?”
“How could that be possible? I just took a shower, and I don’t know when he showed up. By the way, Wayne, why do you want to see me?”
Damien turned his head toward Wayne, who had settled beside him.
“Let’s talk for a while.”
Wayne reached out and ruffled Damien’s wet hair, smiling at him.
Meanwhile, as Emily listened to Wayne’s voice, she sensed something off. She glanced at Stella, who appeared puzzled.
Stella was unsure why Emily was grinning so widely.
“He wants to talk to me.” Damien turned back to Emily on the phone and explained.
“Oh, I see. Give the phone to the man next to you.” Damien didn’t know why Emily asked for Wayne, but he obediently handed the phone to him.
“Sister Emily wants to speak to you,” Damien said, passing the phone to Wayne.
Wayne smiled as he took the phone, saying, “I’m Wayne.”
Upon hearing Wayne’s voice, Emily’s smile widened as she said, “You have to treat my Damien well. And don’t hurt him. My Damien is afraid of pain. If you have time, bring him back to see me and Stella.”
Emily’s chatter filled the air, leaving Stella a bit confused.
“Okay, I got it,” Wayne replied.
Then, Wayne returned the phone to Damien.
“Sister Emily, what did you say to Wayne? Why is he smiling so happily? I have a bad feeling about this.” Damien looked at Wayne, who was grinning, and felt a chill run down his spine.
“Ask Wayne yourself. It’s getting late; I won’t bother you any longer. Bye-bye.” Emily hung up the phone after her cheerful farewell, leaving Stella feeling apprehensive about what had just transpired.
