Chapter 529:

“Hey, don’t hang up. I haven’t talked to Stella yet!” Before Damien could finish his sentence, Emily had already hung up the phone.
Damien looked at the phone in front of him, confused about why Emily had ended the call so abruptly. He turned to Wayne and asked, “What did Sister Emily say to you just now?”
“Well… she said she wanted me to treat you better, and that you were afraid of pain. She also mentioned that you should bring me to see her when you have time,” Wayne replied, observing Damien with amusement.
“Oh, you must treat me better! But why did Sister Emily tell you this?” Damien asked, still unable to comprehend the situation.
Wayne chuckled, flicking Damien’s forehead. “Because you’re still a kid.”
“Me? A kid? No, I just pretended not to know anything in front of her,” Damien protested, rubbing his forehead. He was still puzzled about why Stella didn’t like him.
“Stella and I met first, and we’ve known each other for a long time. But in the end, RK, my cousin whom I didn’t know before, took her away,” Damien lamented, anger flaring at the thought of RK.
“Good boy, love is not something that can be forced,” Wayne advised, patting Damien on the head. He stood up and walked to the desk, gazing out at the scenery through the French window.
“Hey, Wayne, why do you think RK helped the Richard family and insisted on marrying Stella?” Damien asked, looking at Wayne.
“From my guess… RK helped the Richard family because he suddenly found his conscience. Marrying Stella must have been a coincidence,” Wayne replied, squinting at Damien as he shared his thoughts.
“What kind of guess is that? But why would it be a coincidence to marry Stella?” Damien questioned, now more intrigued.
“From what I know, RK said he wanted to marry the daughter of the Richard family, but he didn’t specify which one. At that time, the eldest daughter was already engaged, so they pushed Stella forward,” Wayne explained.

“Later, when the eldest daughter of the Richard family saw RK, she realized he was her ex-boyfriend from abroad. But by then, it was too late. RK and Stella had already gotten their marriage certificate, and he couldn’t divorce her immediately. After all, the guests at their wedding were all notable figures.”
“Then, the eldest daughter of the Richard family dumped her fiancé, James, to pursue RK,” Wayne added.
“But RK and Stella are already married. What about the eldest daughter of the Richard family?” Damien asked, puzzled.
“Of course, it’s a similar method to separate RK and Stella. Think about it—RK is very wealthy, and the eldest daughter of the Richard family is seriously interested in him,” Wayne explained, watching Damien closely.
“Damn it, no way. So, from the beginning to the end, Stella is just a victim?” Damien exclaimed, rising from his seat. Anger surged through him as he considered the actions of the Richard family.
“Well, brother, I’ll tell you one more thing. You should also strangle RK,” Wayne teased, amused by Damien’s reaction.
“What’s the matter? Did RK break up with Stella?” Damien shot back, his frustration palpable.
“Someone from our country sent me a message saying that Stella is pregnant.”
Wayne watched as Damien’s expression shifted from disbelief to shock. “Stella is pregnant?”
Damien recalled how thin Stella had been and how she was now carrying RK’s child. Anxiety gripped him. “Yes, she is pregnant. Five weeks along.” Wayne held up five fingers to emphasize the point.
“I want to book a ticket to return immediately.” Damien spun on his heel, ready to leave Wayne’s office.
“Wait, Damien, what are you doing?”
“Wayne, you can’t do this. Because I inadvertently said that it’s not good for you to expel so many people. You can’t do this.” Damien quickly walked back to Wayne.
“Don’t expel them? What’s the use of keeping them? If they casually share my secrets, I have to fire them,” Wayne stated matter-of-factly.
“They didn’t tell outsiders that I’m not an outsider,” Damien replied defensively.
“Not an outsider? Is he an insider? Oh, I see,” Wayne chuckled, finding Damien’s expression amusing. He then settled down at the desk to review documents, leaving Damien deep in thought.
“Madam, you’re up. Breakfast is ready.” Aunt Maya greeted Stella as she descended the stairs.
“Sorry to trouble you, Aunt Maya. You don’t need to be so careful, it’s only been a month,” Stella replied with a smile, feeling kinder as thoughts of becoming a mother warmed her heart.
“No trouble at all,” Aunt Maya reassured her, recalling Stella’s earlier disappointment when she thought she wasn’t pregnant. Now that the news had changed, Aunt Maya was filled with joy.
Upon entering the dining room, Stella spotted RK at the table and smiled at him.
RK frowned, surprised at Stella’s warmth. He thought she might want to share the news of her pregnancy, but she seemed distant.
After breakfast, RK told Stella he was heading to the office and advised her to rest at home. If she felt bored, she could take a walk in the garden.
Stella nodded in agreement.
Once RK left, she strolled to the garden and saw a swing beside it. She approached the swing and sat down, reflecting on how she had lived in the RK Mansion for three years without ever noticing it before.
After playing on the swing for a while, Stella sat at a nearby table, noticing the snacks laid out before her. They all appeared sour, and she wondered if RK had arranged them or if Aunt Maya had done it out of her cravings for sour food.
After snacking, Stella relaxed in a chair, soaking in the sun’s warmth until she dozed off.
When RK returned, the first thing he noticed was Stella peacefully sleeping in the garden, leaning against a chair. She looked radiant, especially now that she was pregnant.
RK approached her, bending down to carry her back into the house.
Stella stirred awake in RK’s arms, and as her eyes opened, she was greeted by the sight of him.
The sunlight framed RK, and in that moment, Stella thought he looked more like an angel from heaven than a devil from hell.
RK carried her to the bedroom, unaware that Stella had awakened until he laid her on the bed and noticed her gaze. She looked at him as if she had been waiting to see him.
“Be good, don’t look at me like that. I won’t be able to take it. You’re still pregnant.” RK leaned down to kiss Stella’s forehead, causing her cheeks to flush at his words.
“Get cleaned up. We’ll have dinner later.” RK smiled at Stella before stepping out of the bedroom.
As Stella touched the spot where RK had kissed her, her face turned beet red.
When she finally went downstairs, RK was surprised to see her sitting at the dining table.
Over the years, Stella had only shared breakfast with RK, never seeing him for lunch or dinner at home.
Stella felt as though she was living a dream.
Suddenly, she recalled Sophia’s cruel threat from that day—the memory of being pushed into the sea lingered painfully. She wondered if RK had discovered the truth and was being kind out of guilt over Sophia’s actions.
“Eat more,” RK urged, noticing Stella’s dazed expression as he filled her bowl with food.
Stella nodded, trying to focus on her meal and shake off her troubled thoughts.
“In the afternoon, if you feel bored, call Emily to keep you company,” RK suggested.
Stella mechanically nodded, feeling as if she were in a haze.
“Emily, do you have time this afternoon?”
Stella dialed Emily’s number, feeling guilty for how long it had been since she last worked with her.
“Of course, when you have time, I’d love to come by and chat!”
“You’re so smart!” Stella thought of Emily, who had grown increasingly confident and self-assured.
Since junior high, Stella had lacked friends, but Emily had always been by her side, never blaming her for anything. She had shown kindness that Stella cherished deeply.
Suddenly, she remembered Damien. It had been a long time since she had seen him, and she missed the boy who had always followed her.
“Stella, are you listening to me?”
Emily’s loud voice snapped Stella back to reality.
“Yes, I’m sorry. I just thought of Damien. I don’t know how he’s doing.”
“That’s right. I wonder if that guy, Damien, misses you…”
When Emily mentioned Damien, her voice softened.
“Hmm, Emily, what did you just say? Say it again.”
