Chapter 1630:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Mollie was perched on her bed, surrounded by a sea of plush toys, each one with a name.
At that moment, she had a doll wrapped in her arms and was narrating Snow White with a serious tone.
Though she knew it by heart, Mollie always insisted that Romina tell the tale again, as if each retelling brought something new. When she saw Romina step in, her whole face lit up.
“Mommy, are you finished with your things now?”
“I am.”
“Will we be picking up Daddy?”
Romina sat down at the edge of the bed and ran her fingers gently through Mollie’s hair. “No, sweetheart. Daddy’s already on his way. He’ll be here very soon.”
The moment she heard that, Mollie leapt to her feet on the mattress. Her whole body danced with joy. “Yay!” she shouted, shaking her little hips in pure excitement, bouncing on the mattress. The story, her toys—forgotten.
When the sound of footsteps came from outside, Mollie jumped down, her bare feet hitting the floor, and raced toward the door.
The moment she spotted Zeke in the distance, Mollie broke into a sprint, full of joy. “Daddy!”
Zeke picked up his pace to meet her halfway.
She ran straight into him, hugging his leg tightly before tilting her head back to look up at him. “Daddy, were you thinking about me?”
“Yes, I was,” he said with a smile, gently squeezing her round cheeks before lifting her into his arms.
Romina, leaning lightly against the frame, watched with a tired smile.

“Your mom left?” Zeke asked.
“She did.”
“That’s alright. I’ll go see her another time.”
He was scheduled to report to the company the next day. Colby would be going with him, and once the transition was finalized, Zeke would officially step into his role as CEO of the Cooper Group.
Colby’s health had been on the decline. Now that his son was finally home, he intended to step down and concentrate on recovery.
Though he called it “recovery,” Colby understood he didn’t have much time left.
“Head back to the bedroom and hang tight. I’ll settle Mollie first.”
Zeke scooped Mollie into his arms and carried her into her room, setting her gently on the mattress.
“Can you read me a story?”
Just as he pulled the thin sheet over her, she made her request—a tale about Snow White.
“Alright, Snow White it is.”
He dropped into the chair by her bed, scanned the space, and failed to find the Snow White storybook. No matter. He started to tell the tale from memory, his hand brushing softly through her hair.
“Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom…”
