Chapter 1633:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“You’re saying Jaime’s been stringing me along just to serve his own agenda?”
“That’s how I see it. And I’m guessing you’ve praised him a lot to your dad—that probably helped him get that partner position.”
“I did speak highly of him.”
Carly couldn’t hold back anymore—her tears spilled freely, streaming down her cheeks. She brushed them aside with the back of her hand. As the memory of Jaime’s cold rejection the night before resurfaced, a harsh clarity struck her. She had been the one to help him gain that partner position—she had opened the door.
Just as easily, she could slam it shut.
She had poured her heart into loving him, given him everything, only to be discarded like she meant nothing. He had used her—mocked her devotion.
“Appreciate the coffee,” she murmured, setting the mug gently on the table. She dabbed her face again and quietly rose to leave.
Carly went directly to her father’s law firm.
Jaime was caught up in a case discussion and didn’t notice Carly coming in. Without delay, she made her way to her father’s office.
She remained inside for thirty minutes, weeping as she poured out every detail to her father about how Jaime had manipulated her and made her feel like a complete fool.
When she eventually stepped out, Jaime had just wrapped up his meeting. Catching sight of her swollen eyes and tear-streaked cheeks, he quickly reached for a handkerchief and moved to dry her tears. She slapped his hand away instantly.
“Save the performance.”
Jaime halted, puzzled. “What’s going on?”

“I’ve figured it all out.”
“What?”
“Jaime, I might not be beautiful, but I’ve always been honest with you. And what did you do in return? You crushed my feelings, stepped on my trust, used me to advance yourself, and even dragged me into helping you pursue someone else. You didn’t miss a trick, did you? You turned me into a fool.”
A faint grin touched Jaime’s lips. “What are you saying?”
Carly didn’t bother explaining. She delivered a hard slap to his cheek.
“You don’t care for me? Guess what—I’m over you too.”
Jaime’s face burned. They stood in the middle of the firm’s main office, under the gaze of numerous onlookers.
Stunned by the blow, Jaime couldn’t hold back his anger. Pointing at Carly, he snapped, “You know what? It’s not just that you’re not attractive. You’re downright hideous.”
Before he could finish, a second slap silenced him. Then Billy, Carly’s father, emerged from his office, his voice cold as ice.
“You’re terminated. Gather your belongings and leave.”
Carly let out a smug snort. “You hear that? My father just kicked you out.”
Jaime sneered viciously. “You’re not only hideous—you’re revolting. No one wants you. You deserve this.”
“At least I’m not vile like you.”
