Chapter 601:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Meanwhile, Clarence decided to go on the offensive.
He ordered Casey, “Drop all peripheral investigations. Focus everything on Brice’s stepmother. If she’s the source of the hatred, she might also be the key to unraveling all of this.”
Casey acknowledged the order and began mobilizing all his resources to find the reclusive Mrs. Langley.
At the hospital, Garrett’s intensified physical therapy began. The pain was excruciating, leaving him drenched in sweat, but he clenched his jaw and didn’t make a sound.
The therapist watched his almost self-destructive efforts with alarm. “Mr. Thornton, if you keep this up, you’ll permanently damage your leg!”
Gasping for air, Garrett’s eyes remained fiercely determined. “I don’t have time.”
Only one thought drove him: stand up, and go get his wife and child. He would pull them out of this damn fate with his own two hands.

Garrett moved on the treadmill, his pace a near-impossible feat for his injured leg. Sweat traced the line of his jaw, but he seemed immune to the pain.
His eyes were fixed ahead, each step measuring the distance between him and Amelia.
Casey Henderson walked in, a flicker of concern in his eyes, quickly replaced by admiration.
He waited for Garrett to stop, handing him a water bottle and a towel. “Sir, your progress report for the day.”
The report showed Garrett’s recovery was advancing at a startling rate, his muscle strength and joint mobility improving far beyond expectations.
Garrett glanced at it before setting it aside. “Any movement from Brice?”
“He’s been quiet,” Casey said. “No moves since the hospital attack failed. Our surveillance shows he’s still in New York, but his movements are erratic.”
A cold smirk touched Garrett’s lips. “The quiet before the storm. He’s planning something bigger.”
“Yes, sir. Mr. Clarence has us focusing our efforts on the Langley family.”
“Garrett really is pushing himself hard. Just watching him makes my bones ache.”
Casey flinched and turned around. “When did you get here?”
Chaim smiled subtly. “Just arrived.”
“Heard you’ve got your hands full with the Azure Cove project. How do you have time to drop by?”
A flicker of emotion crossed Chaim’s face, an expression that made Casey uneasy.
He glanced toward Garrett, making sure he hadn’t noticed them, before relaxing slightly. “I didn’t come to see Garrett. I’m here for you.”
“For me?” Casey frowned in confusion.
“Let’s talk outside.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Casey stepped out. The two men stood in the corridor, eyes locked. Times had changed. Casey was no longer merely a secretary; he was CEO of ME. Meanwhile, Simon Lynch had been penalized for concealing Amelia’s surgery and had lost his position working under Clarence.
Clarence now had only one trusted confidant left. Before long, Casey would stay on at Thornton Global to become Garrett’s right-hand man.
“Here’s the thing. You know Azure Cove is nearing completion. Now that you head ME, I’m hoping to source a full smart-home system from you.”
“Completion?”
