Chapter 774:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Nora couldn’t wait any longer.
Maybe it wasn’t the V16, maybe it was the clues in the safe, but it was only two months and twenty days before Xander had to use the V16.
Every day that passed was torture for her. Especially seeing the terrible atmosphere in her house when she returned from California in the early afternoon. Cherry wasn’t playing, nor was Pete working on his Math Olympiad. Instead, they were both running circles around Xander.
Cherry had pulled out all her favorite barbie dolls and princess dresses and wanted to give them to him.
Xander hadn’t taken them.
As for Pete, she also hinted that she could give him all the Math Olympiad worksheets she had bought.
Xander hadn’t taken them either.
The little guy slumped down on the couch and waved, “I don’t like your stuff! I only like animals.”
Hearing this, Cherry immediately suggested, “I have an uncle who also really likes animals. He has lots of stray dogs and cats, why don’t we have Uncle Louis send us some?”.
But Xander gestured and said, “No, I don’t want them. Those animals are your uncle’s friends, not mine.”
Cherry corrected him. “Xander, he’s your uncle too. He’s very generous. Besides, he also needs money to feed so many cats and dogs, but he doesn’t have any. I’m sure he’ll thank us if we help him raise a few.”

Pete also nodded and said, “Yes, he also has a dog whose coat has a mixture of colors.”
No sooner had he said that than Xander replied, “So what? Even if he does, he’s still not Rainbow.”
Rainbow was dog No. 3. Because his coat was a mixture of different colors, Xander had named him Rainbow. The name was too cliché, and even Rainbow himself disliked it. However, that was what Xander called him, so he had no choice.
Besides, Rainbow was the healthiest of the dogs there.
However, just this morning, Rainbow lay down on the floor and never woke up again.
Xander, who had grown accustomed to death and goodbye, had dug a hole in the yard along with Cherry and Pete, then buried Rainbow there.
There were now several more mounds in the garden, in all of which were Xander’s friends.
Every time they went to the garden, their hearts became exceptionally heavy.
As soon as Xander said that, Cherry and Pete looked at each other, not daring to continue. Cherry changed the subject and said, “Xander, have you decided yet – are you going to take the same last name as me or Pete?”
Neither Cherry nor Pete were going to change their last names.
But surely Xander couldn’t keep using Yale as his last name, could he?
As Cherry and Pete thought about it, Xander waved and said, “No, I haven’t.”
Cherry said, “Why don’t you take the last name Smith, like me? Grandpa will really like you.”
Pete said, “Boys should take Hunt as their last name, of course. It’s better to have the same last name as Dad.”
Cherry then said, “But if Xander’s last name is Hunt, wouldn’t he end up competing with you for the family estate? Let Xander take the last name Smith and inherit Grandpa’s estate.”
Pete and Xander looked at her. “And you?”
Cherry smiled. “I’ve got Great Aunt!”
Pete: “?”
Xander: “???”
Cherry tilted her head and said, “Great Aunt has no children, so she’s always said everything she has is mine. Princess Lucy can attest to that.”
Princess Lucy had stayed at the Hunts’ house since she came to celebrate Cherry’s birthday the other time. She had stayed with Cherry and played with her for three whole days.
Later, because of all the uncertainty and turmoil regarding Herman and Philip, Justin had sent her back.
She and Cherry had resisted parting when she had to leave.
At the mention of her Great Aunt, Cherry cocked her head and said, “I miss Great Aunt!”.
Xander had been listless the whole time.
Even when Nora came home, the three children pounced on her and she played with them for a while; Xander still wasn’t very happy.
However, it seemed that the little boy had learned to hide his emotions from an early age, so he didn’t let it show at all.
After dinner with the children, Nora sent them to their room to rest.
The three little ones were still very young. Coupled with the fact that she was around that night, they had all wanted to sleep with her. So, they all lay down together on the bed.
Heartless Cherry quickly fell asleep.
Pete looked at Xander with concern.
Nora stroked his head.
Pete was simply too sensitive. Besides, he even knew how to take other people’s emotions into account. He was so sensitive that it made one’s heart ache.
In contrast, it was Xander the little devil who couldn’t fall asleep. Only after Nora lit the calming incense she had made did Pete and Xander finally fall asleep.
He got up to check on Justin and see what he was doing.
But as soon as he stirred, he heard Xander say in his sleep, “Mom, save me! Rainbow, I don’t want to die. Sniff…
Rainbow, is it cold on the ground?
Does it hurt when you die?
Do you still feel anything after death?”
Nora was frozen in place.
She had lit the soothing incense, so despite Xander’s extreme restlessness, he didn’t wake up. However, her words pierced Nora’s heart like a dagger.
It turned out that Xander was feeling very insecure.
He had been afraid all along, but the boy had never said anything in front of them.
It was true that he felt sorry for the animals and was sorry to be separated from them. But who wouldn’t be afraid of death?
Especially when… Xander had an extremely high IQ. He understood the concept of life and death.
Nora took a deep breath and left the room.
She didn’t go upstairs to get Justin.
On the way back to New York, she and Justin had agreed to find a suitable opportunity to get rid of the people following her. Then they would go to the bank to retrieve the things there.
But she couldn’t wait any longer.
After Justin’s fight with Jude, he had become extremely cautious. This made the perceptive Nora realize that the people following them couldn’t be normal.
According to Caleb, the five surviving children had then become big bosses in different places. Trueman and Caleb were in Switzerland, but there were still three others following her in search of V16.
She didn’t know who they were, nor did she have any clue as to their identities at the moment.
But if she dragged the situation out any longer, she feared she would no longer be able to save Xander.
It was just a safe, wasn’t it?
She would just go for it.
With that in mind, Nora left Hunt Manor. She didn’t drive. Instead, she did her best to avoid the people following her in the dark and ducked into a small alley off to the side.
After doing this several times, she finally got rid of the people following her and made it to the bank.
The bank was closed for the night. However, this was not a problem for Nora.
She pulled out her phone and pressed it quickly.
Click.
The bank door opened and Nora slipped inside.
