Chapter 1040:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“We —” she started, scrambling. There was no rule that said they had to have been completely undressed, and she could work that angle if she needed to.
Cathryn anticipated it. “Or are you going to claim you kept your clothes on?”
Yasmine faltered, caught completely off guard. She had never imagined someone this reserved could speak with such directness.
Andrew stared at Cathryn, the guilt pressing deeper into him. For someone as modest and easily embarrassed as she was to stand here and speak openly about something so intimate — it must have cost her everything. This was entirely his fault.
Cathryn continued, her voice unhurried and precise. “You just said you touched his chest. How did you miss the red heart-shaped mark?”
Yasmine’s eyes flickered. “Yes — the heart-shaped mark. I almost forgot about it until you said something.”
“That’s a lie,” Cathryn said, her gaze cutting. “My husband has no mark on his chest.”
The room shifted. Everyone present looked at Cathryn with an entirely new kind of respect. None of them had ever dealt with someone like Yasmine before, and her shameless performance had left them at a complete loss. Even Amanda, sharp and formidable as she was, hadn’t known what move to make. And yet Cathryn had stood composed and calm, dismantling the deception with a single, precise question.
Amanda raised a trembling finger toward Yasmine, her voice filled with fury. “How dare you come into Brooks Manor and spread lies?”
Yasmine’s eyes moved around the room, searching for an escape. “We didn’t have sex. But Mr. Brooks did touch my thigh.”
Cathryn’s eyes hardened, and a short, bitter laugh escaped her. “You sell yourself for a living. Why perform modesty now and demand commitment simply because a man laid a hand on you?”

The words landed like a blow. Everyone in the room felt the force of them. Her voice was so controlled, so merciless in its precision, that Yasmine had nothing left to say.
Andrew watched Cathryn, his chest aching. For someone as reserved and dignified as she was to speak of these things openly, in front of an audience, to protect him — it must have taken everything she had.
Amanda’s voice dropped to cold authority. “Remove her from Brooks Manor immediately.”
Yasmine’s composure collapsed. She sank to the floor, shaking. She had badly miscalculated. She had never imagined Cathryn would be like this.
Cathryn crouched slightly and spoke in a low, even voice. “If a single word of this reaches the outside, you will regret it. I promise you that.”
All the color drained from Yasmine’s face. Every thought she had entertained about becoming Andrew’s mistress dissolved on the spot. Anyone who crossed Cathryn would not come away unscathed — that much was abundantly clear.
Yasmine was dragged out of the manor, her cries fading as she was escorted through the courtyard.
Silence settled over the room.
The servants, understanding that the family needed privacy, slipped away without being asked.
