Chapter 1133:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“No problem, Candice,” Anna reassured her with a knowing smile.
“Alright.” Candice picked up her bag and walked out of the office. She wanted to get home early because she’d been worried about Fulton all day, especially knowing that he had been bawling so much earlier.
Based on Candice’s research, babies gained immunity while breastfeeding, but would gradually lose it after weaning and upon the onset of illness. Candice searched for other common medical knowledge to prepare herself for the days when Fulton fell sick or felt discomfort.
Candice planned to return immediately to the Deepmoor Hotel and accompany Fulton after retrieving the document. She grew restless as she hastened her steps. Out of nowhere, her feet slipped across the smooth marble floor, causing her to nearly fall. Luckily, a man dressed in a well-fitted gray suit and shiny leather shoes stretched out his arm to catch her just in time.
Candice raised her head toward him and graciously said, “Thank you.”
But as soon as she realized that the man before her was Bart, she was stunned into silence.
Bart exuded a svelte temperament, accompanied by his meticulously crafted clothes. A gentle smile brushed across his lips as he began to speak. “Excuse me, Candice. Could I have a word with you? I need to talk to you.”
Candice cast a wary eye in Bart’s direction, her skepticism etched on her face.
“It seems that you and I don’t share a common thread for conversation, Bart.”
In response, Bart let out a low chuckle.
“Well, you know what they say, Candice. The enemy of my enemy can sometimes be my ally.”
“Enemy, you say?” Candice said with a playful tone. “Oh, I see.”
“Across the street is a coffee shop. Come on, let’s talk over there.” Bart’s demeanor was that of a true gentleman, putting on airs of chivalry.
Leading the way to the coffee shop, Candice couldn’t help but puzzle over Bart’s intentions, wondering what he was angling for.

Unbeknownst to both of them, their figures together didn’t escape the watchful gaze of Milton. Milton was standing on the revolving staircase, debating the excuse to send the snack he held in hand through. The sight of Candice and Bart departing the Royal Garden Corporation together raised Milton’s suspicions, mainly because Bart typically didn’t work in the corporation’s main building. It was evident that Bart had come specifically for Candice today.
Milton’s brow furrowed, his grip on the snack tightening as he pondered this unexpected development.
It was only when Candice and Bart had vanished from sight that Milton descended the staircase and strode into the investigation team’s office. At that moment, only Anna was at her desk, diligently engrossed in her search for information. She received an unexpected lunchbox hurled her way by Milton.
The lunchbox’s abrupt appearance startled Anna. She lifted her head just in time to catch a fleeting glimpse of Milton’s retreating figure.
“Mr. Lopez, is this for me?” Anna called after him, but Milton, stone-faced, offered no response and disappeared beyond the office door.
