Chapter 367:

“No.” Essie shook her head. “Can I have your phone number? Just in case of any emergency, I can contact you directly.”
Jarrod furrowed his brows. “Emergency? Is there anything wrong?”
Essie hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words. “I just mean, if anything comes up…” She trailed off, realizing her mistake.
She quickly corrected herself. “I can see that you are very attentive to her needs. Pregnancy requires careful attention in all aspects.”
Essie paused, then continued, “In the early stages of pregnancy, the fetus is underdeveloped, and complications are common. For example, threatened miscarriage, slow fetal growth, or unexpected cardiac arrest in the developing fetus. Special care for the expectant mother is required.”
Indeed, she dropped hints for the man, but unfortunately, the man in front of her didn’t grasp a thing.
However, she feared Greyson’s influence and couldn’t reveal more.
“Okay,” Jarrod nodded.
Milton, who had been standing in the doorway, abruptly exclaimed, “Write down my phone number,” just as the man was about to jot down his own.
“Of course.” Jarrod wrote down Milton’s personal number upon hearing this.
Essie wished to leave herself a way out. She turned her gaze outside before offering Jarrod her business card. “Just let me know if anything occurs. You can reach out to me directly.”
“Appreciate it,” Jarrod acknowledged, turned, and walked away.
Seeing she was alone in the office, Essie collapsed into the chair, confusion written on her face.
She was conscious that she had erred.
She clasped her hands and quietly hoped she wouldn’t create too much trouble.
Yet, ever since the afternoon, she had felt that something big was going to happen.

As soon as he had the reports, Jarrod left the doctor’s office and hurried back to the parking lot with Milton.
Jarrod handed the reports to Milton when they arrived at the Bentley.
Then Milton told Jarrod, “You return first. I want to stay alone for a while.”
Jarrod was aware that Milton did not want him exposed to too much information. With a nod, he replied, “Alright, Mr. Lopez.”
After handing Milton the car key, Jarrod left East Hospital alone.
Milton climbed into the driver’s seat of the Bentley and activated the overhead reading light.
The reports were bathed in warm, golden light.
He took a few deep breaths and began reading them. His thin fingers shook uncontrollably.
He felt terrible invading Candice’s privacy, but he couldn’t help himself.
His expression soured and his brows narrowed as he realized how far along she was in her pregnancy.
