Chapter 410:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Greyson pressed on, “I’ll admit I made some mistakes. Rachel and Madilyn tried to cause her miscarriage, but they ended up at the police station. Wasn’t it your mother who pushed her down the stairs?”
His words carried obvious complacency.
“Milton, I warned you—your family doesn’t suit her. If you married her, they would interfere. Now that’s proven true. You claimed not to care about her background? Impossible! Play your games within your own affluent circle. Don’t drag Candice down with you.”
Milton gritted his teeth, feeling a suffocating pressure in his chest.
“It must be a misunderstanding. I’ll get to the bottom of it.” He hadn’t given much thought to family backgrounds, and he couldn’t fathom his mother, Erica, feeling otherwise. If he genuinely cared for someone, she would support him wholeheartedly. It was inconceivable that she’d dislike Candice’s status and not want her child, let alone push her down the stairs to induce a miscarriage. There had to be a misunderstanding.
“A misunderstanding? Will it still be a misunderstanding when witnessed firsthand?” Greyson scoffed, shoving Milton aside. “Move. I’m going to see her. The priority now is to ensure her full recovery and minimize any harm.”
With that, he brushed past Milton’s dark expression, entered the ward, and slammed the door shut.
Candice was disturbed by a noise behind her. She turned around, ready to confront the intruder, for she had finally had enough.
“I said I don’t want to see you. Why are you still here?” she said, her tone laced with anger.
As she spoke, she realized it wasn’t Milton who had entered her ward, but Greyson.
Her face went pale, and she was at a loss for words.
Greyson sat down beside her, his heart aching at the sight of her looking so pitiful. He had never experienced such an emotion before, not even when Madilyn fainted in front of him repeatedly.

Despite knowing about Candice’s pregnancy, he never thought she would lose her child in such a tragic way. He couldn’t imagine the depth of her pain.
“Why are you even here? I don’t want to see anyone right now,” Candice said, turning her face away. She thought Greyson had no idea she was pregnant, not to mention that the child she was carrying was Milton’s and had nothing to do with Greyson.
Greyson tenderly tucked her in and said, “I didn’t know about your accident until I got a call from the emergency center. But before coming here, I spoke to Dr. McCoy and saw the detailed record of your operation. You don’t have anything to worry about. Dr. McCoy is the best doctor in gynecology and obstetrics at our Harmony Hospital, and your operation was a success. It won’t affect your future pregnancy. All you need now is to rest and recuperate.”
Candice’s eyes welled up with tears as she thought about her lost child. She felt lonely and devastated.
The future, huh? She had never really thought about the future. All she ever wanted was a family, but that now seemed like a pipe dream.
