Chapter 440:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
She felt deeply humiliated. She had fallen so low, all because she had set Candice up.
Candice stood before Rachel and stared at her apathetically.
Meanwhile, Greyson stared fixedly at Candice, unmoving. She looked much better than when she had been in the hospital. It was obvious she had been well cared for in the past few days. Today, she wore a simple grey dress but radiated a graceful aura under the blazing sun. She appeared slimmer, with a more defined jawline. She looked more attractive than ever.
“Are you all right?” Greyson asked softly.
Candice ignored Greyson and looked directly at Rachel, speaking with disdain. “I’m here to say goodbye.”
Rachel gritted her teeth in humiliation and snapped, “Are you here to laugh at my misery?”
“Sure, if that’s what you think,” Candice replied with a faint smile.
“Damn you! How dare you!” Rachel cried out in exasperation.
“What’s wrong? After all, you treated me the same way. You’re just getting a taste of your own medicine. I even made a special trip here to see how you would feel,” Candice said lightly.
“Just wait. I will have my revenge. I will never let you live a peaceful life,” Rachel threatened ruthlessly.
“Revenge?” Candice echoed sarcastically, smirking. “Only humans take revenge. Beasts wouldn’t know what revenge is.”
Rachel was stunned for a moment before realizing what Candice meant. How dare she call her a beast?
“You bastard!” Rachel shrieked, raising her hand to slap Candice.
Suddenly, she howled in pain as Greyson grabbed her wrist so tightly he nearly crushed it.
Rachel, on the verge of tears, cried, “Greyson, let go of me. It hurts! Show me some respect! I am your elder, after all!”

Greyson said coldly, “I will never let you hurt her again.”
Watching Rachel and Greyson, Candice was reminded of the day after her wedding night when Rachel had abused her, and Greyson, cold and indifferent then, had stopped her resistance by kicking her knee, forcing her to her knees.
Only a few months had passed, and now the tables had turned. Greyson was defending her instead. Unfortunately, Candice felt no gratitude—it was meaningless.
Candice looked down at Rachel and spoke every word clearly, “I came here today to tell you something. You and Madilyn schemed to kill the Harman family’s heir—the child I was carrying. But you made a pitiable mistake.”
She stepped closer as Rachel’s face paled little by little.
In a soft whisper, Candice dealt the most deadly blow: “Why have you never considered that the child I was carrying wasn’t Greyson’s? What a grave mistake you’ve committed.”
