Chapter 539:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
In an instant, a tranquilizer dart shot out of the ring and hit the wolf’s abdomen. The wolf collapsed to the ground. But before it could lose consciousness from the effect of the tranquilizer, it was clever enough to let out a piercing howl. Khloe’s heart sank. She had studied animal behavior, and she knew what the wolf’s howl meant—it was its way of calling for reinforcements.
Eric looked at Khloe in a daze, not expecting her to save him. A mix of shock, embarrassment, and hope surged in his heart. Perhaps Khloe still cared for him after all.
“Hurry! Call for help!” Giuliana could no longer heed Eric’s warning. With trembling hands, she pressed the button.
However, Khloe’s eyes sharpened, and she said coldly, “It’s too late. The pack is coming.”
Sure enough, as soon as Khloe spoke, the ominous rustling of the grass grew louder. Before they could react, wolves leaped out from the forest and surrounded them.
They were trapped with no way out. Would they just wait for their death?
Dozens of piercing green eyes locked onto Khloe and her companions, some of the wolves’ muzzles still wet with fresh blood.
The horrifying sight was unlike anything Sloane, Giuliana, or Skyla had ever encountered. Fear gripped them so tightly that their knees threatened to buckle.
“There are actual wolves!” Skyla’s voice quivered, her face drained of all hope. “We should’ve listened to Khloe. Now we’re all going to die here!”
Skyla’s belated regret did little to change the situation, though the online viewers seemed to share her sentiment.
“They only panic when death stares them down!”
“Eric Watson’s just as useless. He can’t fend off the wolves, yet he bullies others into staying in the competition. Now everyone’s doomed because of him!”

“Don’t pin it all on Eric. If Giuliana hadn’t clung to him so stubbornly, they might’ve had a shot at quitting. Now, even calling for help won’t save them until the instructor shows up.”
Khloe’s body was taut with tension. The pack was ruthless—one wrong step, and they’d be torn apart. To make matters worse, only Eric could offer some help, while the others were nothing but a burden.
Yet, Khloe’s composure never wavered. Her sharp gaze darted across their surroundings until she pinpointed the clearest path to escape.
“Get behind me!” she barked, her tone cold.
Momentarily startled, Eric, Sloane, Giuliana, and Skyla hesitated but ultimately fell in line without protest.
Khloe knew their obedience wasn’t born of trust; it was survival instinct. They hoped she’d bear the brunt of the wolves’ wrath to improve their own odds.
“If you want to live, do as I say!” Khloe snapped. “Run where I tell you—or you’ll die here!”
Her blunt command left the online audience buzzing with questions.
“What’s Khloe planning? Is she really about to take on the wolves?”
“No way! Even Eric’s terrified. How’s Khloe supposed to fight them?”
“Even now, Khloe is trying to call the shots. Always putting on a show!”
“Anyone claiming Khloe is taking charge must either be her haters or die-hard fans of Giuliana! Sure, maybe Khloe is showing off, but she’s the one standing in front of her team. Isn’t that what matters?”
The online debate raged, while Khloe steeled herself for the impending fight. Her actions weren’t driven by selflessness but by sheer confidence in her ability to handle the wolves.
She saw this fight as her chance to cement her name in the show’s spotlight. By standing her ground, she could reveal Artist’s twisted manipulation.
She had no doubt this wolf pack was orchestrated by Artist. A natural occurrence was impossible; the island wasn’t suitable for wolves, and the production team wouldn’t risk such danger.
