Chapter 554:
The expression on Khloe’s face turned cold, her voice detached. “Sloane, if you, Eric’s fiancée, can’t even admit your mistakes to fight for his life, why should I, the victim, lift a finger to help him?”
Humiliation contorted Sloane’s face. After a tense moment, she fell to her knees with a loud thud, shame written in every line of her posture. “I admit it! Everything I said and did was meant to target Khloe. I’m sorry—it was my fault! Khloe, please save Eric!”
The scene, captured live on social media, ignited a firestorm of reactions.
“Khloe and Sloane are sisters! Isn’t Khloe going too far?”
“Even if Khloe’s talented, her attitude is unbearable!”
“Sloane’s the real victim here. Poor girl.”
But Khloe’s fans weren’t having it. They rushed to her defense.
“Sure, sure, you’re all so compassionate! Let’s see how kind you’d stay if you had a scheming sister or a so-called best friend like Sloane.”
“Talk all you want when you’ve got no skills. Khloe has talent and every right to stand tall.”
“Khloe’s been dragged through the mud since day one. Isn’t she the one who deserves sympathy?”
The comment section erupted into yet another heated war of words.
Meanwhile, Khloe turned her gaze back to Sloane, her smile sharp and taunting. “I gave you a chance, and you wasted it. Now it’s too late.”
Sloane sprang to her feet, her face a mask of fury and humiliation. “Khloe…”
Khloe tilted her head, her voice calm. “It’s still live.”

Panic flickered across Sloane’s face as she scrambled to mask her emotions, her movements jerky and desperate.
Morris’s voice cut through the tension, calm but insistent. “Khloe, don’t rush to decide. I’ll add another $3 billion to sweeten the deal. It’ll go straight into your lab account as a dedicated research fund. What do you say?”
Khloe’s composure faltered, her heart skipping a beat at the staggering offer.
Morris was Henrik’s father, and despite everything, he had always treated Khloe well. Now that he was personally reaching out for her help, she felt compelled to show him the due respect.
Beyond that, the advanced laboratory equipment and the three-billion-dollar research fund were far more significant than Eric’s fate. Khloe had built the laboratory with a singular purpose: to cure her mother’s hereditary illness. Time wasn’t on her side. Her mother’s condition was worsening rapidly, and if Khloe hoped to make any groundbreaking progress in genetic disease research, the lab needed to evolve quickly. With state-of-the-art instruments and a massive infusion of funding, this was an opportunity she couldn’t afford to lose.
“Alright, I’ll do it,” Khloe said, her voice steady. “You just need Eric cured, right?”
Khloe was ready to save Eric, but how she went about it was entirely her decision.
Morris hesitated briefly, sensing something unusual, but ultimately agreed without argument. “Yes, he just needs to survive.” With that reassurance, Khloe felt a wave of relief.
After ending the call, she instructed the bodyguards to move Eric’s unconscious form into the tent and began preparing the necessary medications and surgical tools.
“No interruptions during the procedure. If anyone disturbs me, I’ll stop immediately,” Khloe instructed Eric’s bodyguards before stepping inside.
Henrik immediately understood Khloe’s intent. A knowing smirk spread across his face as he offered, “I’ll assist you.”
Khloe’s eyes flicked to him, and a faint smile curled her lips. “Fine.”
