Chapter 579:
Khloe replied with biting sarcasm, “Unlike you, I don’t break my word. I’m ready for whatever comes.”
Naomi, visibly stung by the remark, clenched her fists, and her retreat was now impossible. “Bring the easels and chessboard!” she barked.
In moments, the table was set. The chessboard gleamed under the sunlight, while two easels stood poised nearby. Brushes and oil paints were arranged with careful precision.
Naomi, knowing she needed to maximize her advantage, brazenly issued an exceptionally harsh challenge. “Khloe, since you’re so confident, here’s the challenge. You have thirty minutes to complete an oil painting and win a chess match. If you fail to succeed in both, you lose!”
By the time Naomi finished speaking, her eyes burned with malicious determination.
The challenge was blatantly unfair, stacked against Khloe from every angle. Yet, she didn’t seem to budge. Fixing her eyes on Naomi, she let a sly, confident smile play on her crimson lips. “I will be the winner.”
Everyone thought Khloe was incredibly audacious. How dare she disregard Lindy’s and Cara’s abilities? She truly believed she would win. But was it really possible? Even though Khloe’s skills in chess and painting were exceptional, managing both talents simultaneously required an extraordinary level of multitasking. What level of talent would be needed to guarantee victory under such conditions? Even the members of the Dayton family, who had received the most elite education since childhood, couldn’t achieve such a feat. Could Khloe really do it?
“Khloe, prepare to lose,” Naomi snarled. She was done with her “nice and kind” act. All she wanted now was to crush Khloe once and for all.
As the scene unfolded before her, Sheri’s satisfaction was evident in the gleam in her eyes, a faint smile curling at the corners of her lips. She looked at Khloe with a hint of sarcasm, but it was only fleeting. Soon, she regained her usual graceful demeanor.
Once everything was prepared, Khloe and Cara sat face-to-face, while Lindy sat at an easel beside Cara.
As the timer beeped, Lindy began to paint, her brush gliding over the canvas with the confidence of someone who had spent years perfecting her craft.

At the same time, the black and white chess pieces were strategically arranged on the chessboard. Cara, playing white, made her first offensive move by advancing a pawn.
Khloe placed her right hand on the edge of the chessboard, her left hand holding the paintbrush. Her gaze quickly swept across the chessboard as she moved her knight casually. Her seemingly random move caught everyone off guard. But those who understood chess realized it wasn’t just a defense; instead, it was a counterattack that disrupted Cara’s strategy. Yet, her left hand never moved.
The Dayton family voiced their opinions one after another. “Look at Khloe’s left hand. It isn’t moving at all. Clearly, she can’t paint.”
“That’s completely normal. Even holding a fork with our non-dominant hand is challenging.”
“If she can paint a complete picture with her left hand, I’ll be impressed, even if it’s not perfectly done. But her left hand isn’t even moving. There’s no doubt she can’t do it.”
“Khloe is going to lose. Well, she only deserves it. We offered her multiple opportunities to back down, but she refused. Now she’s facing the consequences.”
The Dayton family was extremely satisfied. After all, Naomi was also a Dayton. Khloe challenging her was, in essence, disrespecting their entire clan.
Naomi’s tense heart began to relax as the game progressed, her confidence growing with each move Cara made. Seeing that Khloe was gradually cornered on the chessboard, her eyes sparkled with pure delight.
Fortunately, she hadn’t been intimidated by Khloe’s earlier bravado, and the competition continued. Otherwise, she would have missed witnessing Khloe’s impending humiliation.
Sheri also secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She looked completely relaxed now.
