Chapter 2377:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Even if they proposed alternative arrangements, Annabel’s priority remained clear: her children were hers, and she would protect them at all costs.
Sensing the tension in the air, someone suggested, “Perhaps it would be best for Bruce to temporarily care for the children. If Annabel feels the need, she can visit them later.”

Tyson agreed. “And if Annabel decides she wants them back in the future, we can discuss it. After all, they are her children.” He spoke this way because the subtle cues from Bruce’s grim expression and Annabel’s resolute demeanor hinted at deeper undercurrents beneath the surface.
Otherwise, Tyson might have contemplated alternate courses of action.
No matter what they said, Annabel refused to listen. Since they all wanted to take her children away from her, her simmering anger finally boiled over, erupting into a fiery outburst.
“Stop with your feigned sympathy! You’re here to take my children, aren’t you? Well, I’m telling you now, it’s not going to happen!” Annabel’s voice reverberated with fury.
Her declaration left no room for negotiation, eliciting impatient responses from the others, who began to directly blame her for the situation.
“They’re Rupert’s children, so you don’t get to make all the decisions. Even when it comes to custody, you’re second in line,” they retorted, their voices tinged with indignation.
Johan, witnessing the unfolding confrontation, grew increasingly impatient with the gossip and bullying directed at Annabel.
“Don’t talk about custody if you don’t understand what it entails,” Johan interjected firmly, his voice cutting through the tension in the room. “Parents have the primary right to custody of their children. Your opinions hold no weight here.”
Johan’s outspoken defense of Annabel’s rights caught the attention of those present.
They found it unusual for him to intervene, especially considering his previously passive demeanor.
However, Johan’s assertiveness only fueled their frustration further. They viewed his criticism as unwarranted and resented his interference in what they perceived as a family matter.
Pointing accusing fingers at Johan, one of them sneered, “This is a private matter concerning the Benton family and the children. It’s none of your business to meddle in. Don’t flaunt your ignorance here. Is there something going on with you and Annabel that we don’t know about? Otherwise, why are you getting involved so readily?”
Some of his family had already stirred up all the trouble they could. They thought anything that confused them was worth using to their advantage.
They did not believe that Johan would treat Annabel well without a reason.
When Johan stepped up for Annabel, it became obvious they were close and that there was some sort of relationship between them.
He would not usually bother with a pointless spat. This time, his involvement spoke volumes.
“Cut the crap. My deal with Annabel is not what you think,” Johan shot back.
Someone chuckled after Johan’s rebuttal.
“Do not play dumb. We can read you like a book,” someone mocked.
