Chapter 456:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
“It’s not enough to control the company outright, but it’s far from insignificant. I am the largest individual shareholder. Connor has been able to sit firmly in his position not only because of his ability and accomplishments, but also because my support has always been behind him. Until now, everyone has understood without saying it aloud that my shares would eventually pass to him.”
She paused there, watching Joslyn’s face with cold satisfaction.
“But what if I publicly announce that I am deeply disappointed in Connor’s marriage and judgment? What if I declare that he’s no longer fit to lead Zenith Group? And what if, immediately after that, I transfer my entire stake to Brandon for nothing?”
Evelyn’s smile deepened as she saw Joslyn’s pupils tighten.
“I am sure you know why Brandon was never formally recognized by the family. But that was then. Times have changed. Back then, my late son’s wife’s family still held considerable political power. Now, that influence is gone. There is no longer anyone I need to fear.”

Evelyn reached for the glass in front of her. Moving without the slightest rush, she poured herself a glass of water and took a slow sip.
“Nothing is stopping me now. I can announce to the public that Brandon is, in truth, the only rightful heir of my eldest son, Reggie. I can give him a legitimate place in this family and make him the heir to everything the Newman name represents.”
Evelyn continued, “By then, the shares in Brandon’s hands will far exceed Connor’s. The board has long been dissatisfied with Connor’s autocratic way of doing things. Tell me, when the time comes, who do you think they will support? A scandal-ridden heir who damaged the family name over a woman, or a young, obedient successor who holds the largest stake in the company? Once the vote is held, Brandon will take his place. It is that simple. And as for Connor…”
Evelyn’s voice sank, carrying a cruel trace of pity. “Perhaps, with the few shares he has left and the connections he has built over the years, he might still manage to keep a seat on the board. But the position of CEO? He can forget about it. He will have no choice but to stand by and watch as everything he spent his life building is handed over to Brandon. You know how this world works. Once a man falls, everyone steps forward to trample him. Connor’s methods in expanding Zenith Group were never gentle. Over the years, he has offended more people than he can count. The moment he is dragged down from that position, those enemies will come for him in swarms. If you continue being stubborn, refuse to break things off with Connor, and insist on dragging him down along with everything he fought so hard to build…”
