Chapter 474:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
She wasn’t testing him, and she wasn’t comparing him to anyone. She simply shared what was on her mind and wanted to know what he thought.
Did it bother him?
Not at all.
What had always weighed on his heart wasn’t Brandon himself. It was the six years of Joslyn’s youth that Brandon had shared with her while he hadn’t been there.
But now that she was being so open with him and honestly asking how he felt, how could he blame her for something that belonged to the past?
More importantly, she wanted to bring him somewhere that mattered to her. She was inviting him into a part of her life he had never been able to witness.
“We don’t have to change our plans,” Connor remarked in a calm, steady voice. “Let’s go there.”
He looked at her with quiet determination. “I’d like to see that place.”
He wanted to sit where she had once sat during her college years. He wanted to taste the food she used to enjoy.
Most of all, he wanted to be the one sitting beside her now, replacing every memory that no longer belonged in the present.

The thought even awakened a possessive feeling deep inside him.
Joslyn carefully studied his expression, searching for even the slightest sign of discomfort. After finding none, she finally nodded with a gentle smile. “Okay.”
A little more than ten minutes later, their car entered the old street behind the university. The road gradually became narrower, while the rows of small shops stood closer together. Warm lights spilled from every storefront, giving the area a simple and familiar charm.
The car eventually stopped at the entrance to a narrow alley because it couldn’t drive any farther.
Connor got out first before turning to the driver. “Wait for us here. If you get hungry, find something nearby to eat. Order whatever you want. I’ll pay for it.”
After saying that, he walked into the alley with Joslyn.
The cold winter wind greeted them the moment they stepped outside. Mixed with it was the rich smell of tacos drifting through the air.
The alley itself wasn’t very long. Old apartment buildings stood on both sides, while the ground floors had been turned into small businesses. There was a fruit stand, a barber shop, and several busy little restaurants, each glowing warmly beneath the evening lights.
A bright red sign with the name Rosa’s hung at the entrance. The restaurant was small, with only five tables inside, and three of them were already occupied by college students and nearby residents.
Soft conversations filled the room. The rich aroma of simmering broth blended with the smell of toasted sesame and a hint of tangy seasoning, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Dressed in an elegant black coat, Connor stood out the moment he walked in. Beside him, Joslyn was still wearing her polished work clothes. Even in such an ordinary little restaurant, the natural grace they carried immediately drew attention.
Several customers glanced at them with curiosity before quietly returning to their own conversations.
