Chapter 710:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
He scrambled backward, trying to put distance between us. But his legs, already suffering from severe neurological tremors due to the silver-toxin backlash, completely gave out. His massive frame crashed heavily onto the thick rug. He dragged himself backward until his spine hit the cold concrete wall in the corner of the room.
He pulled his knees to his chest, his hands clamping hard over his ears as if trying to block out the agonizing screams of his past. “Not her,” he muttered frantically, his chest heaving in a full-blown panic attack. “Don’t touch her… please…”
My heart shattered, but I didn’t let the panic take over. I slid off the bed, ignoring the sharp spike of pain in my sutured shoulder, and crawled across the rug.
I stopped just inches in front of him. I didn’t force him into a touch he wasn’t ready for. Instead, I channeled the absolute, steady authority of a Luna.
“Dallas, listen to me,” I said, my voice firm but incredibly gentle. “Feel the thick rug beneath your hands. Hear the low hum of the generator outside the walls. Smell my scent. Moonflowers and rain. I am Adella. I am right here, and we are safe.”
I repeated the grounding anchors, pouring every ounce of my love through our mate-bond. Slowly, the frantic, erratic breathing began to slow. He blinked, the abyssal black receding as his storm-gray eyes finally focused on my face.
He let out a soul-tearing sob. Dallas lunged forward, burying his face deep into the crook of my neck. His massive arms wrapped around me, trembling violently as the invincible Alpha King broke down completely.

“I’m broken, Adella,” he wept, his voice thick with absolute self-loathing. “The silver is eating my nerves… I can’t even stand up to protect you and our pup.”
“You are not broken,” I whispered fiercely, cupping his tear-stained face and forcing him to look at me. “I love all of you, Dallas. Even the scars. Even the pieces you think are shattered. We are Fated Mates. We will fight this silver together, and we will find a cure.”
He closed his eyes, leaning his forehead against mine. The suffocating terror in the room finally dissolved, replaced by the quiet, desperate rhythm of our shared breathing as we held each other on the floor of the sanctuary.
Adella’s POV
The warmth of the inner sanctuary was gone. I woke up to find the sheets beside me completely cold, the lingering scent of violent storms and cedar the only proof that last night’s profound, tear-soaked confession on the floor hadn’t been a dream.
I pulled my oversized cashmere shawl tightly around my shoulders. The dull throb in my sutured collarbone was a sharp reminder of the Monaco shootout. Following the low, gravelly murmur of voices, I walked out into the main operations room of the transit hub.
The atmosphere hit me like a physical wall of ice.
The vulnerable, broken man who had wept in my arms was entirely gone. Dallas stood by the tactical coffee table, fully submerged in his ruthless Alpha King persona. Despite the faint, agonizing neurological tremors in his hands from the silver-toxin backlash, he methodically loaded a tactical pistol. The metallic clink of lethal silver bullets sliding into the magazine echoed in the dead silence.
