Chapter 508:

Realizing how strange he sounded, he hurried to add, “And Gerda, what about her? What’s she wearing tonight? What color is her dress, and what style?”
He paused again, then said earnestly, “What kind of suit should I wear to match her outfit perfectly?”
Thea’s hand holding the phone paused slightly. She glanced through the French windows of the Dawson Estate, where Jerred and Gerda sat in the living room. Her voice remained calm. “Jerred’s still in the same black suit he wore this afternoon. He didn’t change his clothes. And Gerda…”
Thea knitted her brows, her gaze sweeping over Gerda’s beige top and faded jeans. “She’s dressed very casually. Jeans and a white T-shirt would be just fine.”
Noel strode toward the walk-in closet, frowning as he said to his assistant, “Get me a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt.”
His assistant hesitated, his expression strained. “Mr. Norris, you don’t own anything that simple.”
Noel froze for a second. “What do you mean I don’t?”

His assistant lowered his head even further. “Some time ago, you personally ordered all clothes that looked ‘too ordinary’ to be packed up and thrown away.” He swallowed nervously. “You said you were returning from abroad and only wanted to bring back items of value. Those clothes weren’t worth the shipping cost, so you had them disposed of… So right now, you don’t have those clothes, unless I go and buy them…”
“Then go!” Noel shot him a furious glare. “If I don’t have those clothes within thirty minutes, you’re fired!”
Terrified, the assistant spun around and fled. Watching his retreating figure, Noel pressed his fingers to his temple and dropped onto a nearby seat, irritation etched across his face.
He believed that if he intended to be with Gerda in the future, he would have to refine her taste properly. Cheap, casual clothes like that should be avoided.
At the Dawson Estate, not long after Thea ended the call, the Dawson family’s butler stepped out of the house and approached her.
“Miss Dawson.” He smiled politely. “Dinner is about to begin. Mr. Willis noticed your absence just now, and your aunt and uncle realized you weren’t inside. Your aunt is rather displeased. You should return with me at once.”
Thea put her phone away and followed the butler toward the house, a cold smile curving her lips. “No one even noticed I was gone until now. If anyone has the right to be upset, it’s me. What does she have to be upset about?”
It seemed Clara and Victor believed the Dawson family had finally reclaimed its former glory, so much so that even the household butler now spoke to Thea with thinly veiled disdain. “As a member of the Dawson family, you should be entertaining guests in the mansion, not hiding away here for a moment of peace. I had to personally come fetch you for dinner.”
