Chapter 736:

Jareth immediately bowed his head, his voice dripping with remorse. “This is my fault, Mr. Shaw. I should have been more careful.”
The room fell into a suffocating silence. No one else dared to utter a single word. In that moment, Jareth was the only one permitted to speak.
Allison, standing nearby, observed the doctors’ inaction and assumed their work was done. She stepped closer, shifting uncomfortably before speaking. “Mr. Shaw, I was wondering if I could head back home now?”
Her hands gestured vaguely, trying to soften her words. “But it seems like we’re quite a ways from the city, and there’s no way I can make it back on my own. Could you, um, maybe ask someone to drop me off?”
“Of course,” Verruckt replied without any hint of emotion, his tone as casual as if she had asked for the time.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Shaw!” Allison forced a smile, trying not to let her relief show too blatantly. “It’s alright, though. Mr. Williamson already knows where I live, so there’s no need to trouble you further.”
Jareth chimed in, as if on cue. “She lives in the Liber district, at the white rental building.”
The mention of the Liber district was enough to make a chill creep into the room. It was a place shrouded in danger, infamous for its reputation.

The white rental building? It was a name that even the bravest avoided, a symbol of decay and peril.
Verruckt’s brow furrowed slightly at the mention. After a moment’s pause, he raised his head and spoke with decisive authority. “Jareth, take her to the apartment in the Nuding district. It’s the nearest property I own to the lab.”
Jareth blinked, visibly startled. “Are you serious about letting her live there, Mr. Shaw?”
The apartment in the Nuding district was no ordinary place — it was a prized asset, something that spoke of status and exclusivity.
Verruckt’s expression darkened. “Are you questioning me?”
“Not at all, Mr. Shaw,” Jareth replied hastily, swallowing his surprise.
While Jareth didn’t dare to object, Allison found herself in a bind. She had clearly overplayed her act, and now it seemed the boss had misinterpreted her plight, going so far as to offer her a place to stay.
Uncomfortable with the turn of events, she attempted to refuse politely. “Mr. Shaw, that’s really too much trouble. I can stay at—”
Before she could finish, he cut her off sharply. “This is your reward.”
Then, turning to the doctors, he barked, “Finish treating the wound already. I don’t have time to waste.”
“Understood.” The doctors snapped out of their hesitation and began working swiftly.
