Chapter 737:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Allison couldn’t help but feel that Verruckt was a tyrant at heart. His words carried the weight of finality, leaving no room for negotiation.
Resigned, she forced a grateful smile. “Thank you, Mr. Shaw. In that case, I’ll graciously accept it.” However, she was certain of one thing — Verruckt never made a move without an ulterior motive.
If the house had surveillance, it would be inconvenient for her to do anything. So that would be a problem for her to deal with later.
She still had to return to the basement to see how Kellan was doing tonight. Therefore, Allison appeared to recall something. “And Mr. Shaw, I still need to go back tonight to pack, and my mom left me a good luck charm; it’s still there.”
“Is the charm really that significant?” Jareth asked, his confusion evident.
By all logic, she should have been eager to move in without delay. To his surprise, Allison nodded earnestly. “It’s incredibly important. My mom gave it to me, and I can’t even imagine spending a night without it.”
Jareth opened his mouth, ready to dismiss her concern, but Verruckt cut in sharply. “Let her go back tonight. We’ll help her move tomorrow.”
“Understood,” Jareth replied without hesitation.
The tension in the room pushed the doctors to treat the wound with remarkable speed.

Once finished, Verruckt slipped on his coat and tossed a short knife toward Allison. “Keep this for self-defense. If you run into another thug like Yashiro, don’t hesitate. If someone threatens you, deal with it decisively.”
Allison caught the knife with both hands, a flicker of embarrassment crossing her face at his words.
“But… I don’t know how to kill,” she said timidly, her voice small and uncertain.
Verruckt let out a cold laugh. “Then you had better start learning.” Without waiting for a response, he stepped into his car with unwavering resolve.
Jareth motioned for Allison to follow him, leading her to another sleek, expensive vehicle.
“Do yourself a favor and follow Mr. Shaw’s orders. No debates, no detours,” Jareth instructed as he pointed to her seatbelt. “Buckle up. My job is to get you back safely, and I take my orders seriously.”
“Thank you,” Allison murmured as she carefully tucked the knife away and fastened her seatbelt. Her gaze shifted to Jareth. “Does Mr. Shaw often take his employees in like this?”
“Not in a million years,” Jareth replied immediately. “I’ve never seen him take anyone under his wing. Must be because you saved him — seems like you hit the jackpot.”
As the car purred to life, Jareth’s eyes flicked to the rearview mirror, still mulling over the strange situation. Despite Alice’s obvious beauty, she had a rather shy attitude and was hardly happy or vivacious. Did Verruckt like this type?
