Chapter 919:
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Kellan hadn’t slept much over the past three days. For the first time, he realized just how terrified he was at the thought of losing her.
“I love you too,” she whispered. Seeing the vulnerability in his eyes, Allison pulled him close, wrapping her arms around his neck. “Even if you think you’re awful, it doesn’t matter. I’m no better. Besides, love can be possessive.”
That was why there was jealousy, envy, and the desperate urge to claim the other completely. Allison could feel Kellan’s unease.
“Come lie with me. Let’s rest for a bit.” She didn’t mention his distress directly. He was clearly on the verge of losing it. The slightest hint that she might die would send him into a frenzy.
Allison couldn’t even begin to imagine how shattered he must have felt when he quietly admitted to killing those men.
Kellan locked eyes with her.
“Allison, say it again — those three words.”
“I love you.”
“I need to hear it again.”

“Kellan, I love you.”
Allison kissed his lips gently, then patted the space next to her. “Come here. I’ll whisper it in your ear as many times as you want.” She gave him a playful wink. There was more than enough space here for another grown man.
“Alright.” Kellan unbuttoned his coat. The black shirt hugged his body, showing off his strong build. His sleeves were rolled up, giving a clear view of his smooth, toned forearms.
Then, he pulled Allison into his arms, holding her tightly. It was only in her embrace that his emotions started to calm.
Kellan gently nibbled on her earlobe.
“Once you’re healed, let’s head to the forbidden area. You can punish me however you like.”
Allison pinched his waist. “Tsk, are you being dramatic?”
“Do you like it?”
She did, more than she cared to admit.
Allison talked to him casually.
“By the way, what Verruckt said that night was true.” She could feel Kellan’s fear of losing her. And she knew that too many secrets stood between them.
Allison had always planned to leave the island behind, but now, it was time to face it.
“When I was very young, my mother abandoned me, and I ended up in an orphanage. I was bullied, and I thought I might find my mother on the island, but I was caught and taken to the lab in the research facility. There, I was a test subject. They drugged me and trained me every day, like I was some kind of animal. Then my mentor blew up the facility and saved me. It was a painful time in my life, but now that I look back, it doesn’t seem as bad as it once did.”
Her voice was steady as she talked about her past, her fingers laced with Kellan’s. He rested his head against her neck.
