Chapter 920:
“Did it hurt?”
“It was bearable.”
Allison shook her head, then decided to follow her heart — telling him the truth. “I was afraid you’d think I was a monster. I didn’t want you to see this side of me.”
She hadn’t realized it, but she had changed a lot. Love had made her once-brave heart hesitate.
Allison had never been afraid of anything before, but now, for the first time, she didn’t want Kellan to see the darker parts of her past.
Now that she thought about it, there was nothing left to hide. She couldn’t keep pretending all the time when she loved someone. When she had married Colton, she had lost herself, trying to be who he wanted her to be. But in those three years, she hadn’t found real happiness.
“Allison, I love you, not some version of you.”
His fingers intertwined with hers. “I used to be paralyzed, stuck in a wheelchair. People saw me as unpredictable and harsh, calling me a lunatic behind my back. Honestly, I didn’t want you to know about my dark past, either.” That was truly what he thought.
Allison teased, “Well, I guess we’re a perfect match.”
Kellan kissed his way down from her collarbone. His warm breath made her shiver.

“Allison, we’re meant to be.”
Late at night, Gordon and Amya rushed over as soon as they heard the news.
“Allison, are you okay?”
“Ms. Clarke, you really scared me when you were unconscious!”
Allison managed a faint smile, though her weariness was evident. “Don’t worry, I’m fine now.”
Meanwhile, Kellan made sure Allison took her medication on schedule.
“The doctor said Allison is recovering well but needs plenty of rest.”
Only then did Gordon and Amya begin to relax. Amya let out a breath of relief, but Gordon wasn’t ready to let things go.
“If Allison is awake, why didn’t you let us know immediately, Mr. Lloyd?” Gordon asked sharply, shooting a frosty glare at Kellan. His dislike for Kellan was as clear as daylight.
“If you hadn’t been with her that night, she wouldn’t have gotten hurt,” Gordon continued, his voice laced with accusation. He now saw Kellan as nothing short of a magnet for disaster. Otherwise, how could Allison have fallen from the car?
Kellan shot back with a mocking grin. “I told you before, Allison needs rest. Informing you today was already the earliest I could manage.”
“And why’s that?” Gordon pressed, his irritation mounting.
“Because I’m her boyfriend,” Kellan replied coolly.
“So what? I’m her trusted subordinate, and that means more than some fleeting title,” Gordon countered, his voice rising.
