Chapter 1108: (END)
🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙 🍙
Despite his usual low profile, tales of Ashton’s achievements had spread far and wide. Many were eager to witness the awakening of his ancestral powers, hoping to gain favor with the future head of the Baldwin family.
Yet, as the hours dragged on, anticipation turned to confusion—Ashton, the central figure of the event, was nowhere to be found.
“Grandfather, I’ve already told you—Ashton isn’t coming back. I saw it with my own eyes. His ancestral powers have already awakened. There’s no reason to keep everyone waiting. Just send them away,” Adrien repeated this for what felt like the hundredth time.
Although Adrien wasn’t entirely certain about Ashton’s situation, he was sure of one thing—Ashton no longer needed ancestral powers to protect those around him.
Ennis clenched his jaw. “Is this how you fulfill your duty as a brother? I sent you to help him deal with Robert and bring him home, yet you returned alone! Enough. I don’t want to hear another word!”
Without sparing Adrien another glance, Ennis picked up his phone and dialed Ashton’s number.
After several calls went unanswered, the line finally connected. “Who is this? I’m busy. Make it quick.” A distinctly irritated voice came through.
“You little brat, how dare you ask me that? You promised to be here for the trial! Where the hell are you?” Ennis bellowed.
“Oh, Grandpa? I’m swamped right now. I’ll take the trial when I get around to it,” Ashton replied lazily.
Ennis’ frustration only grew. “What could possibly be more important than this?”
“Something very important. I’ve found myself a few future wives. You do want more great-grandchildren soon, don’t you?”

Before Ennis could explode, Ashton chuckled and hung up, unfazed by whatever rant was coming his way.
As he put down his phone, Emalee approached cautiously. “Ashton, are you sure about this? That’s your grandfather and the current head of the Baldwin family. If we anger him, things might not go well for us.”
Ashton scoffed, unconcerned. “What’s the worst he can do? Disown me again? Big deal. Didn’t I already tell you all? The assets of the Miller and Nash families in Staville belong to me now. Abrial has already started consolidating control over them. A multi-billion-dollar fortune is more than enough to take care of all of you.”
Emalee hesitated, about to speak again, but before she could, Alisha nudged her aside. “That’s enough, Emalee. I’ve spent too long assisting other teams in tracking down the remnants of the Dark Night Organization. Now that I’ve finally wiped them out and gotten some time off, it’s my turn to have Ashton to myself tonight!”
Rosalie, who had been glued to her phone, finally looked up, her tone cool. “Stop bickering, both of you. I call the shots here, which means I decide who gets Ashton. And since Abrial is coming to Inewood tonight, we’ll hold a meeting and settle this properly.”
Ashton groaned. “Can’t you all just let me rest for two days? You’ve nearly drained me dry this past month.”
The three women turned to him in perfect unison. “No!”
As Ashton opened his mouth to protest, Selena suddenly burst into the room. “Ashton, we have a problem! There’s a woman outside the Campbell estate demanding to see you. She won’t leave and is threatening to make a scene if you don’t come out!”
Hearing that, Ashton saw the perfect chance to escape. Without hesitation, he threw on his clothes and followed Selena outside.
At the entrance stood a familiar figure.
Before he could get close, the woman’s sharp voice rang out. “No wonder you waited for years and never returned to Tacland. So this is where you’ve been, living the good life, Ashton?”
The moment Kaylee turned around, Ashton froze. “You’re finally willing to leave your room?”
Kaylee gave him a half-smile. “I was actually considering giving you another chance—if you had come back to apologize. Instead of coming back, you’ve been living well here. You took my virginity, Ashton. Do you really think I’ll let you keep living so happily?”
Before she could finish, Ashton strode forward and pulled her into his arms.
This time, he wouldn’t let go. He had owed Kaylee a lot. Now, he would dedicate the rest of his life to making things right.
